MAINTAIN THE HISTORY OF GILBERT AZ AND TO ILLUSTRATE HOW LIFE WAS LIVED OVER THE LAST APPROXIMATELY 100 YEARS SINCE GILBERT CAME INTO EXISTENCE. ALSO PROMOTES ARTS AND CULTURE THROUGH INTERGENERATIONAL PROGRAMS.

THE GILBERT HISTORICAL SOCIETY EXISTS AS A TRUSTEE OF THE HISTORY OF GILBERT, AZ. THE SOCIETY MAINTAINS A MUSEUM WHICH IS IN A 1913 FORMER SCHOOL HOUSE. THIS IS THE ONLY BUILDING IN GILBERT ON THE NATIONAL REGISTER OF HISTORIC PLACES. THE MUSEUM IS OPEN AND AVAILABLE TO THE PUBLIC. ITS MISSION IS TO BE THE VIBRANT CORNERSTONE OF AN INTERGENERATIONAL COMMUNITY THAT CELEBRATES THE PAST, INSPIRES UNITY OF ALL PEOPLE AND CULTIVATES LIFE ENRICHING COLLABORATION. THOUSANDS OF VISITORS AND SCHOOL CHILDREN TOUR THE MUSEUM EACH YEAR.
