THE HISTORIC FOX TUCSON ORIGINALLY OPENED IN 1930 AS SOUTHERN ARIZONA'S PREMIER MOVIE PALACE. FOLLOWING A MULTI-YEAR RENOVATION PROJECT, IT REOPENED AS A SPECTACULAR LIVE EVENTS FACILITY ON DECEMBER 31, 2004. LISTED ON THE NATIONAL REGISTER OF HISTORIC PLACES AND KNOWN THROUGHOUT THE U.S. AS A THEATRE OF RARE BEAUTY, THE VENUE BOASTS ONE-OF-A-KIND SOUTHWESTERN ART-DECO DECOR AND NEAR PERFECT ACOUSTICS. TODAY, THE BELOVED, STATE OF THE ART FACILITY OFFERS A YEAR-ROUND MIX OF LIVE ENTERTAINMENT ACROSS A WIDE RANGE OF DISCIPLINES, CLASSIC AND CONTEMPORARY FILM, COMMUNITY EVENTS, AND EDUCATION ACTIVITIES AND PERFORMANCES SERVING NEARLY 100,000 ANNUALLY AND GENERATING AN ECONOMIC IMPACT OF MORE THAN $7 MILLION IN DOWNTOWN TUCSON. THE FOX IS TRULY "THE PLACE TO BE," JUST AS SHE WAS IN 1930.THE SHUTDOWN OF LARGE-SCALE INDOOR EVENTS IN MARCH OF 2020 DUE TO COVID-19 RESULTED IN SIGNIFICANT TEMPORARY CHANGES TO PROGRAMMING. ALL PUBLIC, IN-PERSON EVENTS WERE CANCELLED; AND THE ORGANIZATION PIVOTED TO DELIVER VIRTUAL PROGRAMS, WHILE MAINTAINING FUNDRAISING ACTIVITY TO SUPPORT BASIC NEEDS. THE FOX REOPENED IN AUGUST OF 2021 AND RESUMED A FULL SEASON OF PUBLIC PROGRAMS.
