THE COLORADO HISTORICAL FOUNDATION WAS ESTABLISHED IN 1965 TO ADVANCE THE STUDY AND PRESERVATION OF COLORADO'S HISTORY AND HISTORIC PROPERTIES. WHILE ORIGINAL EFFORTS FOCUSED PRIMARILY ON PROJECTS OF SPECIAL INTEREST TO THE COLORADO STATE HISTORICAL SOCIETY (HISTORY COLORADO), THE FOUNDATION REGULARLY COLLABORATES WITH OTHER ENTITIES PRESERVING AND SHOWCASING COLORADO HISTORY. THE FOUNDATION'S FOUR FOCUS AREAS: ACCEPTING AND MONITORING HISTORIC PRESERVATION EASEMENTS, ADMINISTERING A HISTORIC PRESERVATION REVOLVING LOAN FUND, PROJECT CONSULTATION AND SUPPORT, AS WELL AS STEWARDING ENDOWMENTS AND RESTRICTED FUNDS TO SUPPORT ORGANIZATIONS AND PROJECTS THAT FURTHER THE FOUNDATION'S MISSION.FOR OVER 40 YEARS, THE FOUNDATION'S EASEMENT PROGRAM HAS PROTECTED HISTORIC BUILDINGS, STRUCTURES AND LANDSCAPES THAT EMBODY COLORADO'S STORIED LEGACIES AND UNIQUE SENSE OF PLACE. FUNDS STEWARDSHIP: THE COLORADO HISTORICAL FOUNDATION MANAGES ENDOWMENTS, RESTRICTED AND CUSTODIAL FUNDS TO BENEFIT ORGANIZATIONS AND PROJECTS WHICH FURTHER THE FOUNDATION'S MISSION.
EASEMENTS AND PRESERVATION: THE ORGANIZATION ACCEPTS AND MONITORS CONSERVATION EASEMENTS TO ENSURE THE DEFINING CHARACTERISTICS OF HISTORIC STRUCTURES AND HISTORICALLY IMPORTANT LAND AREAS ARE PRESERVED AND PROTECTED. ADDITIONAL PRESERVATION SERVICES INCLUDE CONSULTATION, GRANT ADMINISTRATION AND PROJECT MANAGEMENT IN PARTNERSHIP WITH ENTITIES CARRYING OUT HISTORIC PRESERVATION AND RELATED RESEARCH PROJECTS.
ADDITIONALLY, THE FOUNDATION PROVIDES SUPPORT TO THE CHF REVOLVING LOAN FUND WHICH FINANCES HISTORIC PROPERTY REDEVELOPMENT IN LINE WITH THE "SECRETARY OF THE INTERIOR'S STANDARDS FOR THE TREATMENT OF HISTORIC PROPERTIES."
