Describe the Organization's Mission:

Part 3 - Line 1

MOTHERS FOR POSTPARTUM JUSTICE IS A GRASSROOTS ORGANIZATION IN OAKLAND THAT SHOWS UP FOR THE BLACK COMMUNITY ONE MEAL AT A TIME THROUGH THE NOURISH PROGRAM. SINCE 2020, WE HAVE CREATED INTERSECTIONAL PARTNERSHIPS ACROSS INDUSTRIES, ORGANIZATIONS AND COMMUNITIES TO SHIFT THE CULTURE FOR POSTPARTUM CARE IN OUR SOCIETY, TO CENTER NOURISHMENT, CONNECTION, HEALING, AND CELEBRATION. MPJ COLLABORATES WITH BLACK LED ORGANIZATIONS AND LOCAL BIPOC OWNED RESTAURANTS TO ENSURE THAT 8 SERVINGS OF DELICIOUS AND NUTRIENT DENSE MEALS ARE DELIVERED TO PARTICIPANTS THEIR FIRST 6 WEEKS OF THE POSTPARTUM PERIOD.

Describe the Organization's Program Activity:

Part 3 - Line 4a

NOURISH PROGRAM PROVIDES COOKED MEALS PREPARED BY BIPOC OWNED COMMUNITY RESTAURANTS IN COLLABORATION WITH OUR MPJ NUTRITIONAL AND PROGRAMMATIC TEAM.

THE NURTURE PROGRAM PROVIDES ESSENTIAL POSTPARTUM SUPPLIES TO NEW MOTHERS. THIS ALLEVIATES THE PROBLEM OF NEW MOMS TAKING THEIR NEWBORN OUT TO SHOP FOR THESE PRODUCTS THAT THEY DIDNT KNOW THEY NEEDED. WE HAVE PROVIDED APPROXIMATELY 150 NURTURE BAGS

MPJ CONTINUES A NEW PROJECT CALLED HUGS (HONORING AND UNIFYING GATHERINGS) TO PARTNER WITH LOCAL BLACK-OWNED CAFES AND RESTAURANTS TO PROVIDE A SAFE SPACE FOR NEW MAMAS, BIRTHING PEOPLE, AND LEGAL CARETAKERS OF INFANTS IN THE COMMUNITY.
