THIS ORGANIZATION IS STRUCTURED FOR PHILANTHROPIC JEWISH INDIVIDUALS TO PROVIDE NEEDY JEWISH FAMILIES AND INDIGENT PERSONS WITH BASIC FOOD SUPPLEMENTS AND DISCRETIONARY DIRECT FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE. THE ORGANIZATION OPERATES PRIMARILY UNDER THE DBA OF TOMCHEI SHABBOS OF LOS ANGELES. "TOMCHEI SHABBOS" ORGANIZATIONS HAVE BEEN FOUNDED IN EVERY MAJOR METROPOLITAN AREA TO ENABLE JEWS TO HELP THEIR IMPOVERISHED BRETHREN WITH THEIR MOST BASIC FOOD STAPLES FOR SHABBOS/SHABBAT AND HOLIDAYS. THE LOS ANGELES ORGANIZATION HAS EXPANDED ITS' FOCUS TO ASSIST AS MANY NEEDY JEWISH FAMILIES IN SO MANY OTHER AREAS INCLUDING, BUT NOT LIMITED TO: FOOD, CLOTHING, AND SHELTER SUBSIDIES, MEDICAL EXPENSE SUBSIDIES, INTEREST FREE LOANS, WEDDING ASSISTANCE, CLOTHING DISTRIBUTION PROGRAMS, AND LIMITED CASH ASSISTANCE. THE ORGANIZATION ASSISTS WITH: 1) PROVIDING FOOD PACKAGES TO OVER 700 NEEDY FAMILIES IN THE LOS ANGELES AREA ON A WEEKLY BASIS. PACKAGES ARE ASSEMBLED, DISTRIBUTED, AND DELIVERED BY OVER FIFTY VOLUNTEERS WEEKLY. FOOD PACKAGES INCLUDE BASIC STAPLES SUCH AS MILK, BREAD, CHICKEN, FISH, CHEESE, AND FRUITS AND VEGETABLES.2) LIVING SUBSIDIES FOR LARGER FAMILIES INCLUDING RENT, UTILITIES, MEDICAL EXPENSES, AND CLOTHING.
