PROMOTE PREVENTION, DOULA SERVICES, ADDRESS GENDER VIOLENCE, AND ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION AND AWARENESS.

WOMEN'S LEADERSHIP & ECONOMIC FREEDOM (WLEF) PROGRAM AIMS TO PROVIDE INTERGENERATIONAL EDUCATIONAL SESSIONS IN NORTHERN NEW MEXICO AROUND HEALTHY RELATIONSHIPS, GENDER BASED VIOLENCE PREVENTION AND GRANDMOTHER SUPPORT CIRCLES. THIS PROGRAM INCLUDES THREE DIFFERENT PROJECTS WHICH ARE THE CIRCLE OF GRANDMOTHERS, THE A'GIN PROJECT AND THE ENGAGING MEN AND BOYS INITIATIVE. THE WLEF PROGRAM CONDUCTED ONGOING A'GIN YOUTH MEETINGS WITH A TOTAL OF 18 YOUTH ATTENDING THROUGHOUT THE YEAR, HELD 2 VIRTUAL COHORT SESSIONS THROUGHOUT THE FALL 2020/SPRING 2021, AND WORKED WITH LITTLEGLOBE PRODUCTIONS & NAMBE PUEBLO YOUTH GROUP ON YOUTH PRODUCED SHORT FILMS. THE WLEF PROGRAM'S ENGAGING YOUNG MEN AND BOYS PROJECT DEVELOPED A CULTURALLY ADAPTED BRAIDED CURRICULUM FOCUSING ON THE PREVENTION OF GENDER BASED VIOLENCE. IN FEBRUARY 2021, THE WLEF PROGRAM HELD THEIR PROGRAM STRATEGIC PLANNING. FROM MAY-JUNE 2021, THE PROGRAM HOSTED 8 YOUTH PANEL DISCUSSIONS ON TOPICS RANGING FROM YOUTH ORGANIZING TO POETRY WORKSHOPS AND ALSO HELD INTERGENERATIONAL PANELS AS WELL.


ENVIRONMENTAL JUSTICE PROGRAM FOCUSES ON BUILDING ACTIVE ADVOCACY AROUND ENVIRONMENTAL JUSTICE ISSUES REGARDING OUR WATER, LAND, AIR, AND SEEDS. THIS PROGRAM ACTIVELY DISTRIBUTES LOCAL AND NATIVE SEEDS AND PLANTS TO OUR COMMUNITIES AND CREATES COMMUNITY WORKSHOPS FOR ALL GENERATIONS TO BUILD CONNECT AND KNOWLEDGE AROUND AGRICULTURAL TOPICS, TRADITIONAL FARMING AND SEED SAVING. DURING 2020-2021, THE ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH AND JUSTICE PROGRAM MENTORED 15 YOUTH, 3 YOUTH INTERNS, AND TWO ADULT STAFF FROM THE COMMUNITY IN INDIGENOUS SUSTAINABLE DESIGN DURING A SERIES OF 11 WORKSHOPS, AS WELLS AS EXPANDED THE NYP GARDEN IN DEVELOPING AND PLANTING A TERRACE OF 8 FRUIT TREE GUILDS ONSITE. THE PROGRAM DISTRIBUTED 12 GARDEN BEDS TO SINGLE PARENT FAMILIES, HOSTED THE TREE GENERATION FEST IN COLLABORATION WITH NYP AND THE TWU YOUTH LEADERSHIP PROJECT THAT DISTRIBUTED 80 FRUIT TREES, 136 COMPANION PLANTS AND 225 SEED PACKETS TO 65 YOUTH PARTICIPANTS AND FIVE COMMUNITY ORGANIZATIONS. THE EHFO COMPLETED SEVERAL PROJECTS INCLUDING THE COMPLETION OF THE PERGOLA SEATING AREA, THE MIDDLE EASEMENT ROAD, LARGE SCALE REMOVAL OF INVASIVE ELMS, UPGRADE AND REPAIR OF THE ENTIRE DRIP SYSTEM, EHFO COMMUNITY TEMPLATE (ONGOING OVER WINTER) AND PLANT RESOURCE GUIDE (ONGOING OVER WINTER). THE EJ PROGRAM ALSO PARTICIPATED IN MYCROREMEDIATION PROJECTS AND OTHER LOCAL EFFORTS ON EJ ADVOCACY WORK WITH NUMEROUS PARTNERS.


INDIGENOUS WOMEN'S HEALTH PROGRAM CONTINUES TO PROVIDE DOULA TRAINING CLASSES, WORKSHOPS FOR BIRTH WORKERS, CLASSES FOR COMMUNITY MEMBERS ON PARENTING, HEALTHY RELATIONSHIPS AND HEALTHY CHILD DEVELOPMENT. IWH ALSO WORKS IN COLLABORATION WITH OTHER GROUPS AROUND BIRTH JUSTICE, POLICY AND REPRODUCTIVE HEALTH ISSUES THAT IMPACT OUR COMMUNITIES IN NORTHERN NEW MEXICO AND ACROSS THE STATE. IN 2020-2021, THIS PROGRAM PROVIDED FULL SPECTRUM CARE TO 20+ INDIVIDUALS/ FAMILIES AND TRAINED 15 COMMUNITY DOULAS.
