Describe the Organization's Mission:
Part 3 - Line 1
CIVIC TN IS A NONPARTISAN, STATEWIDE CIVIC ENGAGEMENT TABLE THAT ENVISIONS A FUTURE WHERE UNDERREPRESENTED COMMUNITIES OF COLOR, SINGLE WOMEN, AND YOUNG PEOPLE - THE RISING AMERICAN ELECTORATE - HAVE A GREATER VOICE AND INFLUENCE IN SHAPING STATE POLICY AND CHOOSING LEADERS WHO AFFECT THEIR LIVES. CIVIC TN HAS BUILT A BROAD-BASED COALITION DEDICATED TO BRINGING PEOPLE BACK INTO THE POLITICAL PROCESS.
Describe the Organization's Program Activity:
Part 3 - Line 4a
VOTER PARTICIPATION/REGISTRATION/CENSUS: CIVIC TN RAN A ROBUST VOTER ENGAGEMENT PROGRAM THAT INCLUDED GRASSROOTS OUTREACH SUCH AS CANVASSING, PHONE BANKING, MAIL, DIGITAL ADVERTISING, AND RELATIONAL ORGANIZING. CIVIC TN REGRANTED TO PARTNER ORGANIZATIONS TO SUPPORT NONPARTISAN VOTER ENGAGEMENT EFFORTS AND PROVIDED TECH TOOLS TO REACH VOTERS. CIVIC TN PROVIDED TRAINING AND TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE ON THESE TOOLS AS WELL AS TRAINING ON RELATIONAL ORGANIZING AND REDISTRICTING.
COVID VACCINE: CIVICTN LAUNCHED A COLLABORATIVE PUBLIC ACTION CAMPAIGN TO COMBAT MISINFORMATION, DECREASE BARRIERS TO ACCESS, AND HELP BLACK AND HISPANIC COMMUNITIES BETTER UNDERSTAND THE COVID VACCINE PROCESS IN ORDER TO MAKE THE BEST DECISION FOR THEIR FAMILIES. OUR PROGRAM COMBINED TRADITIONAL GET OUT THE VOTE (PHONE BANKING, CANVASSING, AND TEXTING) METHODS WITH NEW AND EFFECTIVE DIGITAL AND RELATIONAL SOFTWARE TO INFORM OUR ORGANIZING PROGRAM, TRACK OUR PROGRESS AND GET OUT THE VACCINE. CIVIC ENGAGEMENT: THOUGH THIS WAS AN OFF YEAR FOR NATIONAL AND STATEWIDE ELECTIONS IN TENNESSEE, THERE WERE A FEW MUNICIPAL ELECTIONS. WITH OUTLANDISH CONSPIRACIES ABOUT THE SECURITY OF THE 2020 ELECTION STILL LINGERING AND VOTER FATIGUE, IT WAS VITAL THAT WE HELPED GET OUT THE VOTE IN THE MUNICIPAL ELECTIONS. WE RAN A FULL-SCALED COORDINATED CAMPAIGN THAT INCLUDED CANVASSING, PHONES, TEXT AND MAIL IN THE CHATTANOOGA ELECTION. REDISTRICTING: CIVIC TN FOCUSED ON ADVOCATING FOR A FAIR, INCLUSIVE, AND TRANSPARENT REDISTRICTING PROCESS BY EDUCATING, EMPOWERING, AND ENGAGING HISTORICALLY UNDERREPRESENTED COMMUNITIES. CIVIC TN PARTNERED WITH SOUTHERN COALITION FOR SOCIAL JUSTICE TO HOST FOUR REDISTRICTING ACADEMIES, WHICH TRAINED 125 COMMUNITY LEADERS AND IDENTIFIED THREE ORGANIZERS TO SERVE AS REDISTRICTING FELLOWS.
