CIVICTN IS A 501(C)(3) NONPROFIT CIVIC ENGAGEMENT TABLE OF OVER 35 LOCAL- BASED ORGANIZATIONS THROUGHOUT TENNESSEE THAT ARE WORKING INDIVIDUALLY AND COLLECTIVELY TO CREATE A MORE ACCESSIBLE, INCLUSIVE, AND REPRESENTATIVE DEMOCRACY BY AMPLIFYING THE VOICES, LEADERSHIP, AND EXPERTISE OF COMMUNITIES WHO HAVE HISTORICALLY EXPERIENCED DELIBERATE BARRIERS TO CIVIC PARTICIPATION. WE HAVE A SHARED VISION FOR THE EQUAL AND EQUITABLE PARTICIPATION AND REPRESENTATION OF HISTORICALLY MARGINALIZED AND UNDERREPRESENTED POPULATIONS IN TENNESSEE. WE BELIEVE THAT CENTERING THE LEADERSHIP, EXPERIENCES, VOICES, AND VOTES OF BLACK PEOPLE, INDIGENOUS PEOPLE, LATINX PEOPLE, AAPI PEOPLE, AND OTHER PEOPLE OF COLOR (BIPOC), WOMEN, LOW-INCOME AND POOR PEOPLE, LGBTQIA PEOPLE, PEOPLE WITH DISABILITIES, AND YOUNG PEOPLE ARE REQUIRED FOR SHAPING STATE POLICY AND ELECTING LEADERS WHO AFFECT THEIR LIVES.

CIVIC ENGAGEMENT: CIVIC TN AND OUR MEMBER ORGANIZATION WORKED TOGETHER TO EDUCATE, REGISTER, AND TURNOUT BLACK, INDIGENOUS, LATINX, AAPI PEOPLE, AND ALL PEOPLE OF COLOR (BIPOC), WOMEN, YOUNG PEOPLE, POOR PEOPLE, PEOPLE WITH DS LGBTQIA+ PEOPLE DURING THE 2022 MIDTERM AND COUNTY ELECTIONS. COVID VACCINE: DURING THE FIRST OF HALF OF 2022, CIVICTN WRAPPED UP A COLLABORATIVE PUBLIC ACTION CAMPAIGN TO COMBAT MISINFORMATION, DECREASE BARRIERS TO ACCESS, AND HELP BLACK AND HISPANIC COMMUNITIES BETTER UNDERSTAND THE COVID VACCINE PROCESS IN ORDER TO MAKE THE BEST DECISION FOR THEIR FAMILIES. OUR PROGRAM COMBINED TRADITIONAL GET OUT THE VOTE (PHONE BANKING, CANVASSING, AND TEXTING) METHODS WITH NEW AND EFFECTIVE DIGITAL AND RELATIONAL SOFTWARE TO INFORM OUR ORGANIZING PROGRAM, TRACK OUR PROGRESS AND GET OUT THE VACCINE. PRO-DEMOCRACY: CIVIC TN CONTINUED ADVOCATING FOR A FAIR, INCLUSIVE, AND TRANSPARENT REDISTRICTING PROCESS BY EDUCATING, EMPOWERING, AND ENGAGING HISTORICALLY UNDERREPRESENTED COMMUNITIES IN LOCAL COMMUNITIES AS WELL AS MAKING SURE TENNESSEANS CIVIC TN PARTNERED WITH SOUTHERN COALITION FOR SOCIAL JUSTICE TO HOST FOUR REDISTRICTING ACADEMIES, WHICH TRAINED 125 COMMUNITY LEADERS AND IDENTIFIED THREE ORGANIZERS TO SERVE AS REDISTRICTING FELLOWS.
