Describe the Organization's Program Activity:
Part 3 - Line 4a
DUE TO THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC, WRITE AROUND PORTLAND SUSPENDED ALL IN-PERSON OPERATIONS AND TRANSITIONED TO REMOTE PROGRAMMING IN MARCH 2020. IN 2021, WE CONTINUED: PARTNERING WITH SOCIAL SERVICE AGENCIES TO IMPLEMENT REMOTE WORKSHOPS TO REACH THOSE WITHOUT COMPUTER ACCESS AND/OR EXPERIENCING ADDITIONAL ISOLATION; OFFERING ONLINE SLIDING-SCALE WORKSHOPS OPEN TO EVERYONE AND FREE BIPOC WORKSHOPS TO OFFER A SUPPORTIVE SPACE FOR BLACK, INDIGENOUS AND PEOPLE OF COLOR TO WRITE AND SHARE; AND SHARING THE VOICES AND STORIES OF WRITE AROUND PORTLAND WRITERS ON SOCIAL MEDIA, THROUGH OUR ENEWS, AND BY MAIL. WE COMPLETED OUR RACIAL EQUITY FRAMEWORK, WHICH WE WILL USE TO EVALUATE OUR POLICIES AND PROGRAMS GOING FORWARD. WE ALSO IMPLEMENTED OUR TRANSITION AND CONTINUITY PLANS TO RETURN TO OUR OFFICE AND PREPARE TO WELCOME OUR COMMUNITY TO WRITE AROUND PORTLAND SPACES AGAIN. IN TOTAL, IN 2021, WE HELD 88 WORKSHOPS (19 OF THESE WITH AGENCY PARTNERS) WITH 910 WORKSHOP ENROLLMENTS. AS WE LOOK TO THE FUTURE, WE KNOW A SHARED COMMUNITY EXPERIENCE-THE KIND OF AUTHENTIC COMMUNITY WRITE AROUND PORTLAND HAS SUCCESSFULLY BUILT FOR MORE THAN 20 YEARS-REQUIRES THE SHARING OF PHYSICAL SPACE. WE ARE PREPARING TO RESUME OUR IN-PERSON PROGRAMMING AND OPERATIONS IN 2022.
