CAPAW IS ORGANIZED TO DEVELOP AND IMPLEMENT LEADERSHIP PROGRAMS THAT PREPARE, MOTIVATE AND EMPOWER ASIAN PACIFIC WOMEN TO INCREASE THE NUMBER AND IMPROVE THE QUALITY OF ASIAN PACIFIC AMERICAN LEADERSHIP IN AMERICA.

Describe the Organization's Program Activity:

Part 3 - Line 4a

THE CENTER FOR ASIAN PACIFIC AMERICAN WOMEN (CAPAW) CO-HOSTED THE MULTICULTURAL WOMXN'S CONFERENCE WITH THE FOLLOWING ORGANIZATIONS: OCA ADVOCATES, OCA GREATER WASHINGTON DC, ALLVANZA, APIA SCHOLARS, VMT CONSULTING, WOMEN'S ENTREPRENEURIAL OPPORTUNITY PROJECT(WEOP). THE COHORTS INCLUDE ASIAN, BLACK, HISPANIC AND NATIVE AMERICAN WOMXN. THE THEME WAS, "REDEFINING OUR SPACE - SPOTLIGHTING MULTICULTURAL WOMXN." WE FEATURED OVER 30 SPEAKERS AND 20 MENTORS OVER FIVE EVENINGS FOR 1 WEEK. THE FOCUS IS TO SHOW REPRESENTATION OF THOSE WHO ARE SUCCEEDING IN THIS NEW PANDEMIC WORLD IN BOTH PUBLIC AND PRIVATE SECTORS. WE ALSO HAD TWO MENTORING/NETWORKING SESSIONS DURING THE WEEK AFTER PROGRAMMING.

UNLEASH THE SHERO IN YOU! THIS PROGRAM WAS CREATED FOR WOMEN OF COLOR WHO HAVE BEEN WORKING PROFESSIONALLY FOR FIVE YEARS OR LESS. OUR GOALS ARE TO: INCREASE LEVEL OF SELF-CONFIDENCE AND MAKE CONSCIOUS CHOICES ABOUT HER PERSONAL AND PROFESSIONAL LIFE; MAKE A POSITIVE SOCIAL IMPACT AROUND RACISM AS A COLLECTIVE COHORT; INFLUENCE OTHER WOMEN OF COLOR FOR A BETTER CHANCE AT SUCCESS - AS DEFINED BY THE INDIVIDUAL; AND LEARN ABOUT RELATIONSHIP MASTERY AND HOW THAT IS IMPORTANT TO THE CAREER FULCRUM. AT THE END OF THE SESSION, THE COHORT WILL DO A PROJECT THAT PUSHES UP AGAINST SYSTEMIC RACISM.

CAPAW HOSTS THE COMPASSION CIRCLE, A VIRTUAL MONTHLY PEER MENTORING GROUP FOR ASIAN AMERICAN, NATIVE HAWAIIAN, AND PACIFIC ISLANDER (AANHPI) WOMEN. THIS COMMUNITY STARTED IN 2021 WITH SUPPORT FROM NAAAP-ATLANTA'S CHOPSTIX FOR CHARITY. THE PURPOSE IS TO CREATE A COMMUNITY OF AANHPI WOMEN WHO ARE INTERESTED IN: FOSTERING A SAFE ENVIRONMENT TO DISCUSS AND SHARE ISSUES AND CHALLENGES FACED BY ANYONE WHO IDENTIFIES THEMSELVES AS AANHPI WOMEN; SHARING COMMON INTERESTS TO DETERMINE PROGRAMMING FOR 2022 TOGETHER; CREATING A NETWORK OF AANHPI WOMEN TO SUPPORT ONE ANOTHER; AND ENCOURAGE LEARNING ABOUT OTHERS AND EMBRACE PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT OPPORTUNITIES. DISCUSSION TOPICS ARE DETERMINED BY THE PARTICIPANTS, ONCE INTERESTS ARE SHARED WITHIN THE GROUP. THIS IS AN OPPORTUNITY FOR THE PARTICIPANTS TO SHAPE THE PROGRAM.
