PROVIDING ASSISTANCE WITH IMMIGRATION ISSUES SUCH AS DACA OR GREEN CARD RENEWALS, HELPING WITH GENERAL IMMIGRATION QUESTIONS, OR REFERRING CLIENTS TO IMMIGRATION ATTORNEY. INTERPRETATIONS OR TRANSLATION TO CONTACT MEDICAL, DENTAL, OR OTHER PROFESSIONAL OFFICES TO MAKE APPOINTMENTS OR TO CONVEY INFORMATION FROM THE MEDICAL PROVIDER TO THE PATIENT. ASSISTING CLIENTS WITH APPLICATIONS - HOUSING, EMPLOYMENT, ETC. HELPING TO REGISTER CHILDREN IN SCHOOL OR INTERPRETING FOR PARENT-TEACHER CONFERENCES. PROVIDING ASSISTANCE IN MANY VARIOUS OTHER INSTANCES.
PROVIDED EMERGENCY ASSITANCE TO INDIVIDUALS OR FAMILIES WHO NEEDED IT. ASSISTANCE INCLUDED HOUSING AND UTILITY ASSISTANCE WHEN INDIVIDUALS WERE SICK OR UNABLE TO WORK. WE ALSO HELPED WITH PHONE MINUTES SO A CLIENT COULD CONTACT HER DOCTOR OUT OF TOWN. WE PAID FOR THE HOSPITAL BILL FOR A CHILD WHOSE TEETH ALL NEEDED TO BE PULLED. WE HELPED WITH LIVING EXPENSES FOR A FAMILY WHEN THE FATHER HAD COLON CANCER. WE HELPED WITH IMMIGRATION FEES AND VEHICLE EXPENSES FOR A SINGLE MOTHER WHO IS PROVIDING FOR HER FIVE CHILDREN WITH A LOW-PAYING JOB.
WE PROVIDE ENGLISH AS A SECOND LANGUAGE TO IMMIGRANTS. EXPENSES INCLUDE WAGES FOR TEACHERS WHEN A VOLUNTEER IS NOT AVAILABLE, AND BOOKS. WE ASK STUDENTS TO PAY FOR BOOKS AND CLASS FEES IF THEY CAN. IN ADDITION TO ESL CLASSES, WE ALSO TEACH CITIZENSHIP CLASSES, WORKFORCE TRAINING, AND SPANISH CLASSES AT DIFFERENT TIMES THROUGHOUT THE YEAR.
