RECOVERY ADVOCACY PROJECT (RAP) IS COMMITTED TO GIVING PEOPLE IN RECOVERY FROM ALL PATHWAYS, FAMILY MEMBERS, AND SUPPORTERS OF RECOVERY THE GRASSROOTS ORGANIZING TOOLS TO THINK AND ACT LOCALLY. RAP IS WORKING TO BUILD A VISIBLE AND EFFECTIVE CONSTITUENCY IN DEMAND OF COMMUNITY AND PUBLIC POLICY BASED SOLUTIONS IN RESPONSE TO AMERICA'S LONG STANDING ADDICTION CRISIS.

LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT: IN 2021, THE RECOVERY ADVOCACY PROJECT CONTINUED ITS NATIONAL ADVOCACY AND LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT NETWORK - WITH OVER 20,000 UNIQUE ACTIONS TAKEN. TRAININGS WERE DEVELOPED ON A REGIONAL LEVEL (12 REGIONS) AND ON A STATE-BY-STATE LEVEL IN OVER 40 STATES. THE LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM HAD A SPECIFIC FOCUS ON DIGITAL TRAINING DEVELOPMENT AND CONTINUING EDUCATION/TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE FOR PARTICIPANTS. THE DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM INCLUDED A MULTI-TIERED SERIES ON COALITION BUILDING, ADVOCACY RECRUITMENT, AND POLICY PLATFORM DEVELOPMENT. THE NETWORK HOSTED 1,324 ORGANIZING MEETINGS IN DIFFERENT STATES; WITH 115 LISTENING SESSIONS AND OVER 50 TOWN HALL STYLE EVENTS.


COMMUNICATIONS: IN 2021, THE RECOVERY ADVOCACY PROJECT CONTINUED ITS ROBUST DIGITAL COMMUNICATIONS PLATFORM. THROUGH THE PLATFORM - UTILIZING WEB TOOLS AND SOCIAL MEDIA, THE ORGANIZATION REACHED OVER 1,000,000 INDIVIDUALS NATIONWIDE WITH ITS MESSAGING CENTERED ON ADDICTION AND MENTAL HEALTH RECOVERY POLICIES. THROUGHOUT 2021, OVER 20,000 UNIQUE INDIVIDUALS USED OUR ADVOCACY PLATFORMS AND JOINED THE RECOVERY ADVOCACY PROJECT EFFORTS BY TAKING AN ACTION.


COMMUNITY OUTREACH/BUILDING: IN 2021, THE RECOVERY ADVOCACY PROJECT CONTINUED ITS INTENSIVE ORGANIZING INSTITUTE AND NARRATIVE TRAINING ACADEMY. THE INSTITUTE HIGHLIGHTS THREE KEY AREAS OF LEADERSHIP: SELF, COMMUNITY, AND ACTION. IT DRAWS ON THE PUBLIC NARRATIVE, ORGANIZING, AND ADAPTIVE LEADERSHIP FRAMEWORKS CREATED AT THE HARVARD KENNEDY SCHOOL, WITH BEST-IN-CLASS TRAINERS AND COACHES LEADING THE LEARNING.
