Describe the Organization's Program Activity:
Part 3 - Line 4a
RIDING LESSONS. SSRCS LESSON PROGRAMS SERVE RIDERS BETWEEN THE AGES OF 3 AND A HALF TO 85 YEARS OLD, SKILL LEVELS FROM BEGINNER TO ADVANCED, I.E. JUMPING AND COMPETITION RIDERS, AND ADAPTIVE RIDERS, RIDERS WITH DISABILITIES. AVAILABLE TO ALL RIDERS IS A SCHOLARSHIP FUND AND SLIDING SCALE FEE PROGRAM. SINCE OPENING, 100 PARTICIPANTS HAVE RECEIVED FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE, WHICH IS A QUARTER OF ALL PARTICIPANTS. THESE LESSONS UTILIZE SSRCS SCHOOL HORSES SO RIDERS MAY LEARN AND ADVANCE THROUGH SKILL LEVELS WITHOUT THE FINANCIAL BURDEN OF HAVING TO PURCHASE THEIR OWN HORSE. HAVING A LARGE AND SKILLED HERD OF SCHOOL HORSES ALLOWS SSRC TO SERVE SUCH A DIVERSE GROUP OF RIDERS, WHILE MEETING THEIR INDIVIDUAL AND UNIQUE NEEDS. SSRC SERVED 128 RIDERS IN THESE TWO PROGRAMS. SSRC INSTRUCTORS AND HORSES ARE INCREDIBLE TEACHERS WITH THE UNIQUE ABILITY TO CHALLENGE AND REWARD A RIDER EMOTIONALLY, PHYSICALLY, SOCIALLY, AND MENTALLY. RIDERS ARE TAUGHT TO BE MINDFUL, EMPATHETIC, OBSERVANT, CONFIDENT, RESPONSIBLE, AWARE OF THEIR ACTIONS, AND COGNIZANT OF THEIR BEHAVIORS. THESE NECESSARY LIFE SKILLS TRANSCEND BEYOND THE RIDING ARENA AND INTO DAILY LIVES. ADDITIONALLY, RIDING AS A RECREATIONAL AND SPORTING ACTIVITY GETS RIDERS OFF THEIR DEVICES, MOVING THEIR BODIES, AND INTO THE OUTDOORS.
