Part 3 - Line 4a
DEALING WITH THE AFTERMATH OF A TRAUMATIC LOSS IS A COMPLEX PROCESS. INEVITABLY, ALL PEOPLE DEAL WITH LOSS IN ONE WAY OR ANOTHER. HOWEVER, GRIEF FROM SUICIDE OR ADDICTION LOSS IS LIFE-CHANGING AND EARTH SHATTERING, AND REQUIRES AN EXAMINATION OF THE PAST, PRESENT, AND LOST FUTURE RELATIONSHIP WITH YOUR LOVED ONE. THIS TYPE OF GRIEF IS OFTEN CALLED COMPLICATED GRIEF.A NEED FOR POSTVENTION STRATEGIES CONTINUES TO GROW. MOST RECENTLY, LOOKING AT THE FOCUS ON MENTAL HEALTH SINCE THE ONSET OF THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC, MANY PEOPLE ARE STRETCHED BEYOND CAPACITY AND LOOK FOR WAYS TO MITIGATE THEIR STRESS. UNFORTUNATELY, SOME TURN TO THE ALCOHOL OR SUBSTANCES LIKE OPIOIDS, PARTICULARLY FENTANYL. YET OTHERS FIND THEMSELVES IN A SITUATION WHERE IT IS EASIER TO DIE THAN LIVE.TO DATE, ERICSHOUSE HAS SUPPORTED 132 CLIENTS, PROVIDED 481 INDIVIDUAL SESSIONS, AND FACILITATED MORE THAN 60 SUPPORT GROUP SESSIONS HOSTED FOR MULTIPLE PARTICIPANTS. FOR EACH CLIENT SERVED, WE IMPACT THE SONS, DAUGHTERS, FRIENDS, PARENTS, CO-WORKERS OF OTHERS WHO KNOW THE BEREAVED INDIVIDUAL.
