FOUNDED IN JANUARY 2017, THE EQUITY ALLIANCE (TEA) MISSION IS TO UNAPOLOGETICALLY BUILD INDEPENDENT BLACK POLITICAL AND ECONOMIC POWER. WE EDUCATE, EMPOWER, AND MOBILIZE BLACK PEOPLE TO TAKE ACTION AND KEEP OUR GOVERNMENT IN CHECK.

THE EQUITY ALLIANCE: 2023 YEAR IN REVIEW: IN 2023, THE EQUITY ALLIANCE (TEA) CONTINUED TO MAKE MONUMENTAL STRIDES IN ADVOCATING FOR RACIAL JUSTICE, VOTER ENGAGEMENT, AND COMMUNITY EMPOWERMENT. THROUGH RELENTLESS DIGITAL ORGANIZING, GRASSROOTS EFFORTS, AND HIGH-IMPACT EVENTS, TEA'S INFLUENCE GREW SIGNIFICANTLY, TOUCHING THE LIVES OF THOUSANDS ACROSS TENNESSEE AND BEYOND. DIGITAL REACH AND ENGAGEMENT: TEA'S DIGITAL PRESENCE REACHED NEW HEIGHTS WITH OVER 4.5 MILLION DIGITAL IMPRESSIONS, DRAWING 106,000+ WEBSITE VIEWS AND EXPANDING ITS EMAIL SUBSCRIBER LIST TO 18,300+. THEIR SOCIAL MEDIA PLATFORMS FLOURISHED, BOASTING A COMBINED FOLLOWING OF OVER 32,600 FOLLOWERS ACROSS VARIOUS CHANNELS. LEGAL AND ADVOCACY MILESTONES: TEA TOOK A BOLD STAND AGAINST RACIALLY DISCRIMINATORY PRACTICES BY FILING A FEDERAL LAWSUIT TO CHALLENGE TENNESSEE'S REDISTRICTING. THEY STOOD IN SOLIDARITY WITH THE TENNESSEE3 TO DEFEND DEMOCRACY AND ENSURE EVERY VOICE IS HEARD. TEA ALSO MADE SIGNIFICANT CONTRIBUTIONS TO RESTORING DEMOCRACY BY CONDUCTING 92 VOTER REGISTRATION EVENTS AND 42 RETURNING CITIZENS' RIGHTS RESTORED, RESULTING IN 2,200+ COMMITMENTS TO VOTE. EMPOWERING COMMUNITIES: TEA'S COMMITMENT TO EMPOWERING BLACK COMMUNITIES WAS EVIDENT THROUGH THEIR SIGNATURE EVENTS, SUCH AS THE 4TH ANNUAL BLACK WOMEN'S EMPOWERMENT WEEKEND AND THE BLACK ON BUCHANAN: A JUNETEENTH CELEBRATION. THEY ALSO LAUNCHED THE INAUGURAL FREEDOM SUMMER STATEWIDE TOUR, BRINGING THEIR MESSAGE OF EQUITY AND JUSTICE TO EVEN MORE COMMUNITIES ACROSS TENNESSEE. VOTER ENGAGEMENT AND IMPACT: IN 2023, TEA CONTACTED OVER 4.5 MILLION VOTERS THROUGH PHONE CALLS, TEXTS, MAIL, AND DOOR-TO-DOOR CANVASSING. THEIR EFFORTS LED TO 256,000+ INDIVIDUAL VOTER CONVERSATIONS, ENSURING THAT TENNESSEANS ARE INFORMED, ENGAGED, AND READY TO VOTE. SUPPORT AND RECOGNITION: TEA SUPPORTED OVER 150 SMALL BUSINESSES BY CONNECTING THEM TO FUNDING OPPORTUNITIES AND PROVIDED DIRECT SERVICE SUPPORT TO 150 INDIVIDUALS. THEIR DEDICATION TO LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT WAS SHOWCASED THROUGH THEIR LIBERTEA COLLECTIVE, WITH 10 GRADUATES JOINING THE RANKS OF COMMUNITY LEADERS. THE ORGANIZATION'S INFLUENCE AND SUCCESS WERE ALSO RECOGNIZED WITH 6 COMMUNITY AWARDS AND WIDESPREAD MEDIA COVERAGE, INCLUDING THEIR FOUNDERS BEING NAMED AMONG THE NEW CIVIL RIGHTS LEADERS. CONCLUSION: 2023 WAS A YEAR OF SIGNIFICANT ACCOMPLISHMENTS FOR THE EQUITY ALLIANCE. THROUGH STRATEGIC ORGANIZING, COMMUNITY EMPOWERMENT, AND UNWAVERING ADVOCACY, TEA HAS NOT ONLY MADE A MEASURABLE IMPACT BUT HAS ALSO LAID THE GROUNDWORK FOR A MORE JUST AND EQUITABLE FUTURE.
