COMMONWEALTH LEARNING PARTNERSHIP AND VALIN VIRGINIA LEARNS SUPPORTED THE COMMONWEALTH LEARNING PARTNERSHIP'S VIRGINIA LEADS INNOVATION NETWORK (VALIN) 4.0, SUPPORTING OVER 125 EDUCATORS ACROSS MORE THAN TWO DOZEN SCHOOL DIVISIONS IN VIRGINIA. THIS INITIATIVE AIMED TO PREPARE EDUCATORS INTERESTED IN PURSUING FUTURE LEADERSHIP ROLES, INCLUDING POSITIONS SUCH AS SUPERINTENDENT. ACCELERATE VIRGINIA HIGH IMPACT TUTORING FOLLOWING OUR SUCCESSFUL PILOT PROGRAM WITH CUMBERLAND COUNTY PUBLIC SCHOOLS, WE EXTENDED TUTORING SERVICES OVER THE SUMMER, UTILIZING THE VIRGINIA DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION'S K-12 LEARNING ACCELERATION GRANTS. THESE GRANTS ENABLED US TO SUPPORT 29 STUDENTS FROM ACROSS VIRGINIA WITH THE HELP OF 12 TUTORS. IN TOTAL, 216 SESSIONS WERE CONDUCTED, AMOUNTING TO 185 HOURS OF INSTRUCTION IN BOTH ENGLISH AND MATH, COVERING ALL GRADE LEVELS. ADDITIONALLY, WE LAUNCHED A NEW INITIATIVE AT FAIRFIELD MIDDLE SCHOOL IN HENRICO COUNTY, WHERE FIVE TUTORS SUPPORTED 90 6TH-GRADE MATH STUDENTS. DURABLE SKILLS CAPITAL ONE OFFERED PRO BONO ASSISTANCE TO PRODUCE OUR INAUGURAL DURABLE SKILLS VIDEO, FEATURING GREENWOOD ELEMENTARY SCHOOL IN HENRICO COUNTY. THE VIDEO INCLUDES INTERVIEWS WITH GREENWOOD EDUCATORS AND STUDENTS AND INSIGHTS FROM BUSINESS AND EDUCATION LEADERS. VIRGINIA LEARNS CO-HOSTED A SYMPOSIUM WITH AMERICA SUCCEEDS, BRINGING TOGETHER BUSINESS AND EDUCATION LEADERS ACROSS VIRGINIA TO DISCUSS DURABLE SKILLS. THIS GROUP COLLABORATED TO DEVELOP A RUBRIC OUTLINING THE ESSENTIAL DURABLE SKILLS NEEDED IN THE WORKFORCE, SUCH AS CRITICAL THINKING, COMMUNICATION, COLLABORATION, AND LEADERSHIP.
