PROJECT LYME'S MISSION IS TO ERADICATE THE EPIDEMIC OF LYME DISEASE AND OTHER TICK-BORNE ILLNESSES BY SPREADING AWARENESS, PROVIDING EDUCATIONAL RESOURCES, FUNDING PEER-REVIEWED RESEARCH, AND SUPPORTING ADVOCACY FOR SOLUTIONS TO END THE SUFFERING. SINCE 2016, PROJECT LYME HAS CHALLENGED MISINFORMATION ABOUT DIAGNOSIS AND TREATMENT, ADVOCATED FOR PATIENTS' RIGHTS, AND BUILT A COMMUNITY FOR LYME PATIENTS AS WELL AS THEIR LOVED ONES.

EDUCATION AND AWARENESS: PROJECT LYME SPENDS MONEY ON EDUCATION AND AWARENESS THROUGH DEVELOPING INFORMATIONAL CONTENT FOR PRINTED BROCHURES, SOCIAL MEDIA, NEWSLETTERS, WEBSITES, TELEVISION, AND STREAMING SERVICES. IN 2021, OUR WEBSITE HAD 36,119 USERS AND OUR SOCIAL MEDIA GREW TO 32,582 FOLLOWERS. WE ALSO RAN A SUCCESSFUL PSA CAMPAIGN SHARING PATIENT STORIES WHICH RECEIVED 236,000 VIEWS ON NEWS PRE-ROLL (CNN, USA TODAY, FOX NEWS), 462,000 VIEWS ON HULU, AND AIRED ON 52 NEWS CHANNELS THROUGHOUT THE COUNTRY. WE ACHIEVED THIS BY WORKING WITH EXTERNAL CONTRACTORS AND ALLOCATING INTERNAL BILLABLE HOURS TO CREATE CONTENT, DETERMINE STRATEGY, AND DEVELOP PARTNERSHIPS.
RESEARCH: PROJECT LYME INVESTS MONEY INTO RESEARCH VIA GRANTS TO OUR PARTNER, BAY AREA LYME FOUNDATION. THE MAIN FOCUS OF OUR RESEARCH INVESTMENTS ARE DIAGNOSTICS AND THERAPEUTICS, GIVEN THE UNRELIABILITY OF CURRENT LYME TESTING AS WELL AS THE LACK OF EFFECTIVE TREATMENT FOR CHRONIC CASES.
