RESIDENT & STUDENT SUPPORT - THE ACADEMY PROVIDES DIRECT SUPPORT TO OKLAHOMA RESIDENTS AND STUDENTS THROUGH SCHOLARSHIPS, OUR FUTURE PHYSICIANS OF OKLAHOMA (FPO) PROGRAM, AND CONTINUED EDUCATION. THE FPO PROGRAM IS DESIGNED FOR MEDICAL STUDENTS WHO HAVE COMPLETED THEIR FIRST YEAR OF MEDICAL SCHOOL AND WHO HAVE AN INTEREST IN FAMILY MEDICINE, ESPECIALLY THOSE WHO WANT TO PRACTICE IN RURAL AREAS. RESOURCES ARE PROVIDED TO MEMBERS TO ASSIST WITH BOARD PREPARATION AND REVIEWS AS WELL ACCESS TO A DATABASE OF FELLOWSHIPS IN A VARIETY OF DISCIPLINES.
MEMBERSHIP - THE ACADEMY PROVIDES ONGOING CONTINUING MEDICAL EDUCATION, THE ANNUAL SCIENTIFIC ASSEMBLY, REGULAR LUNCHEONS AND WEBINARS, AND CHOICE PARTNERSHIP SUPPORT. MEMBERS ARE ADDED EACH CALENDAR QUARTER AND ARE PROVIDED ONGOING COMMUNICATIONS FROM THE ACADEMY. EACH YEAR THE ANNUAL SCIENTIFIC ASSEMBLY IS HELD AND PROVIDES MEMBERS WITH EDUCATION OPPORTUNITIES AS WELL AS OPPORTUNITIES TO MEET FAMILY PHYSICIANS FROM ACROSS THE COUNTRY.
ADVOCACY - THE ACADEMY HAS A CONTRACT LEGISLATIVE CONSULTANT WHO WORKS YEAR-ROUND TO ENSURE MEMBER THOUGHTS AND VIEWS ARE UNDERSTOOD AT THE OKLAHOMA STATE CAPITAL. MEMBERS ARE FREQUENTLY UPDATED WITH INFORMATION ON LEGISLATIVE EFFORTS THROUGHOUT OKLAHOMA. A RESOURCE BOARD IS ALSO MADE AVAILABLE FOR MEMBERS TO DIRECTLY CONNECT WITH THEIR RESPECTIVE LOCAL LEGISLATORS.
