DCMS IS THE PROFESSIONAL SOCIETY FOR LICENSED PHYSICIANS PRACTICING MEDICINE IN DALLAS COUNTY, TX. DCMS PROVIDES BENEFITS AND SERVICES FOR MEMBER PHYSICIANS, RESIDENTS AND MEDICAL STUDENTS. THE SERVICES INCLUDE LOCAL ADVOCACY WITH ELECTED OFFICIALS TO ENSURE THAT PHYSICIANS ARE ABLE TO PRACTICE MEDICINE IN THE BEST INTEREST OF THEIR PATIENTS AND WITH THE HIGHEST LEVELS OF INTEGRITY AND ETHICS. DCMS ADVOCACY EFFORTS ALSO INCLUDE EDUCATING POLICY MAKERS ABOUT THE IMPORTANCE OF PUBLIC HEALTH MEASURES THAT PROTECT THE RESIDENTS OF DALLAS COUNTY.
DCMS PROVIDES SEVERAL COMMUNICATION CHANNELS TO KEEP MEMBERS INFORMED OF THE LATEST ISSUES WITHIN THE PROFESSION OF MEDICINE AS WELL AS ITEMS RELATED TO MEDICAL CARE ACROSS DALLAS COUNTY. DCMS PRODUCES THE MONTHLY DALLAS MEDICAL JOURNAL (DMJ), WHICH IS THE FLAGSHIP PUBLICATION FOR SOCIETY MEMBERS. THE DMJ PROVIDES TIMELY ARTICLES ON PRACTICE MANAGEMENT, ADVOCACY, COMMUNITY OUTREACH, RESEARCH, AND PUBLIC HEALTH. DCMS ALSO PRODUCES THE ANNUAL PHYSICIAN DIRECTORY, WHICH IS A MEMBER BENEFIT THAT PROVIDES A COMPILATION OF ALL DCMS MEMBERS FOR PHYSICIANS TO USE FOR REFERRAL AND NETWORKING PURPOSES. LASTLY, DCMS PRODUCES THE DMJ E-NEWSLETTER WEEKLY, WHICH PROVIDES TIMELY AND RELEVANT INFORMATION FOR PHYSICIANS, RESIDENTS, AND MEDICAL STUDENTS.
DCMS PRODUCES A NUMBER OF EDUCATION AND NETWORKING EVENTS FOR PHYSICIANS, RESIDENTS AND MEDICAL STUDENT MEMBERS. THESE EVENTS ARE DESIGNED TO PROVIDE MEMBERS WITH THE OPPORTUNITY TO NETWORK, SOCIALIZE, AND SHARE BEST PRACTICES WITH ONE ANOTHER. FORMAL EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS ARE PROVIDED THROUGH THE DCMS CONNECT: VIRTUAL SPEAKERS SERIES, WHICH IS A RECORDED EDUCATIONAL PROGRAM OFFERED SEVERAL TIMES PER YEAR ON AN ARRAY OF DIFFERENT PRACTICE TOPICS. ADDITIONALLY, DCMS PROVIDES SOCIAL AND NETWORKING EVENTS IN LESS FORMAL SETTINGS THAT PROVIDE OPPORTUNITIES FOR PHYSICIANS TO INTERACT WITH COLLEAGUES, SEEKING/PROVIDE REFERRAL INFORMATION, AND TO BUILD COMRADERY AMONG THE PROFESSION.
