SISKIYOU TRAINING & EMPLOYMENT PROGRAM, INC. (STEP, INC.) RECEIVES ITS PRINCIPAL FUNDING FROM THE NORTHERN RURAL TRAINING AND EMPLOYMENT CONSORTIUM (NORTEC) WORKFORCE INNOVATIONS AND OPPORTUNITY ACT (WIOA) WHICH SUPERSEDES THE WORKFORCE INVESTMENT ACT (WIA) AND ACCORDINGLY, OPERATES UNDER THE GUIDELINES AND REGULATIONS OF THIS FUNDING SOURCE. GENERALLY, THE PURPOSE OF THE PROGRAMS IS TO PROVIDE TRAINING TO ECONOMICALLY DISADVANTAGED INDIVIDUALS AND PLACEMENT OF THESE INDIVIDUALS IN PERMANENT EMPLOYMENT.
