THE LAMAR COUNTY FARM BUREAU STRUCTURE OF ORGANIZATIONAL LEADERSHIP PROVIDES MANY OPPORTUNITIES FOR MEMBERS TO KEEP ABREAST OF ISSUES THAT AFFECT AGRICULTURE. MEMBERS CAN PARTICIPATE IN DISTRICT, STATE AND NATIONAL ORGANIZATIONAL AND EDUCATIONAL CONFERENCES TO LEARN ABOUT CURRENT ISSUES FACING AGRICULTURE.


YOUNG FARMER PROGRAM:LAMAR COUNTY CONTINUES TO REACH OUT TO THE YOUNG FARMERS IN OUR COUNTY. THE BUREAU CURRENTLY HAS A YOUNG FARMER PROGRAM BUDGET OF $6100 PER YEAR. THESE FUNDS ARE UTILIZED TO SEND YOUNG FARMERS TO WASHINGTON D.C., THE STATE CAPITOL, YF&R CONFERENCES, AS WELL AS THE COUNTY AND DISTRICT YOUNG FARMER SOCIALS.


POLICY DEVELOPMENT:IN ORDER TO PROTECT & PROMOTE THE AGRICULTURE INDUSTRY THE LAMAR COUNTY FARM BUREAU, THROUGH ITS STRUCTURE OF VOLUNTEER LEADERS, SUPPORTS PUBLIC POLICY EFFORTS AT THE LOCAL, STATE AND NATIONAL LEVEL. THIS IS ACCOMPLISHED THROUGH LEGISLATIVE AND REGULATORY MONITORING COMMUNICATION WITH MEMBERS AND PUBLIC AWARENESS PROGRAMS. VOLUNTEER MEMBERS PARTICIPATED IN MEETINGS WITH LOCAL LEGISLATURES, AGRICULTURAL AGENCIES AND FAMERS ABOUT AGRICULTURAL POLICIES AND CONCERNS.
