PUBLIC POLICY PROGRAMS IN ORDER TO PROTECT & PROMOTE THE AGRICULTURE INDUSTRY THE WILSON CO FARM BUREAU THROUGH ITS STRUCTURE OF VOLUNTEER LEADERS SUPPORTS PUBLIC POLICY EFFORTS AT THE LOCAL STATE AND NATIONAL LEVEL. THIS IS ACCOMPLISHED THROUGH BOTH LEGISLATIVE & REGULATORY MONITORING, COMMUNICATIONS WITH MEMBERS & PUBLIC AWARENESS PROGRAMS ABOUT FARMING & RURAL LIFE & PROVIDE INFORMATION ABOUT THE AGRICULTURE INDUSTRY. VOLUNTEER BOARD MEMBERS PARTICIPATE IN SPONSORSHIP OF MEET THE CANDIDATE ACTIVITIES & YEARLY POLICY MEETINGS WITH THEIR LEGISLATORS TO EDUCATE THEM ABOUT AG POLICY & HOW THE INDUSTRY IS IMPACTED BY LAWMAKERS.
AGRICULTURE LEADERSHIP ACTIVITIES THE WILSON COUNTY FARM BUREAU STRUCTURE OF ORGANIZATIONAL LEADERSHIP PROVIDES MANY OPPORTUNITIES FOR MEMBER LEADERS TO KEEP ABREAST OF ISSUES THAT AFFECT AGRICULTURE. THEY PARTICIPATE IN OTHER LOCAL ACRICULTURAL CIVIC & COMMUNITY ORGANIZATIONS. LEADERS ATTEND DISTRICT STATE & NATIONAL CONFERENCES TO NETWORK WITH FARMERS & OTHER AGRICULTURALISTS TO LEARN ABOUT CURRENT ISSUES FACING AGRICULTURE. A HIGHLY DEVELOPED COMMITTEE STRUCTURE PROVIDES LEADERSHIP OPPORTUNITIES FOR MEMBERS THROUGH MEETINGS, REGULAR COMMUNICATIONS AND AGRICULTURE ACTIVITIES.
YOUTH EDUCATION AND LEADERSHIP EFFORTS THE WILSON COUNTY FARM BUREAU REMAINS INVOLVED AS PART OF THE OVERSIGHT OF AGRICULTURE YOUTH DEVELOPMENT IN THE AREA. THE EFFORTS INCLUDE OUTREACH TO RURAL SUBURBAN AND URBAN YOUTH. THE WILSON CO FB ASSISTS IN MANNING & FUNDING AN AG FIELD DAY WHERE 1450 2ND GRADE STUDENTS GET TO VISIT AN ACTUAL WORKING FARM. THIS EXPERIENCE SHOWS THESE STUDENTS HOW IMPORTANT AGRICULTURE IS TO SUSTAINING THEIR EVERYDAY LIVES. THE WILSON CO FB ALSO SPONSORS FUTURE FARMERS OF AMERICA CHAPTERS IN THE COUNTY AS WELL AS SPONSORING THE COUNTY 4-H LIVESTOCK PROJECT.
