PUBLIC POLICY PROGRAMS IN ORDER TO PROTECT & PROMOTE THE AGRICULTURE INDUSTRY THE CUMBERLAND CO FARM BUREAU THROUGH ITS STRUCTURE OF VOLUNTEER LEADERS SUPPORTS PUBLIC POLICY EFFORTS AT THE LOCAL STATE AND NATIONAL LEVEL. THIS IS ACCOMPLISHED THROUGH BOTH LEGISLATIVE & REGULATORY MONITORING, COMMUNICATIONS WITH MEMBERS & PUBLIC AWARENESS PROGRAMS ABOUT FARMING & RURAL LIFE & PROVIDE INFORMATION ABOUT THE AGRICULTURE INDUSTRY. VOLUNTEER BOARD MEMBERS PARTICIPATE IN SPONSORSHIP OF MEET THE CANDIDATE ACTIVITIES & YEARLY POLICY MEETINGS WITH THEIR LEGISLATORS TO EDUCATE THEM ABOUT AG POLICY & HOW THE INDUSTRY IS IMPACTED BY LAWMAKERS.


AGRICULTURE LEADERSHIP ACTIVITIES THE CUMBERLAND COUNTY FARM BUREAU STRUCTURE OF ORGANIZATIONAL LEADERSHIP PROVIDES MANY OPPORTUNITIES FOR MEMBER LEADERS TO KEEP ABREAST OF ISSUES THAT AFFECT AGRICULTURE. LOCAL BOARD MEMBERS ATTEND ORGANIZATIONAL & EDUCATIONAL MEETINGS EACH MONTH. THEY PARTICIPATE IN OTHER LOCAL AGRICULTURAL & EDUCATIONAL MEETINGS EACH MONTH. THEY PARTICIPATE IN OTHER LOCAL ACRICULTURAL CIVIC & COMMUNITY ORGANIZATIONS. LEADERS ATTEND DISTRICT STATE & NATIONAL CONFERENCES TO NETWORK WITH FARMERS & OTHER AGRICULTURALISTS TO LEARN ABOUT CURRENT ISSUES FACING AGRICULTURE. A HIGHLY DEVELOPED COMMITTEE STRUCTURE PROVIDES LEADERSHIP OPPORTUNITIES FOR MEMBERS THROUGH MEETINGS, REGULAR COMMUNICATIONS AND AGRICULTURE ACTIVITIES.


YOUTH EDUCATION EFFORTS ANNUALLY THE CUMBERLAND COUNTY FARM BUREAU REMAINS INVOLVED AS PART OF THE OVERSIGHT OF AGRICULTURE YOUTH DEVELOPMENT IN THE AREA. EFFORTS INCLUDE OUTREACH TO RURAL SUBURBAN AND URBAN YOUTH. THE CUMBERLAND COUNTY FARM BUREAU PUTS ON A FARM DAY WHERE ABOUT 500 3RD GRADE AND HOME SCHOOLED STUDENTS GET TO SEE AN ACTUAL FARM AND WHERE THEIR FOOD AND FIBER COME FROM. THE CUMBERLAND COUNTY FARM BUREAU GIVES NUMEROUS SCHLORSHIPS TO STUDENTS GOING INTO AGRICULTURE MAJORS AND CUMBERLAND COUNTY FARM BUREAU IS ALSO A MAJOR SPONSOR OF THE FFA AND 4-H PROGRAMS IN THE COUNTY.
