DESOTO COUNTY FARM BUREAU STRUCTURE OF ORGANIZATIONAL LEADERSHIP PROVIDES MANY OPPORTUNITIES FOR MEMBER LEADERS TO KEEP ABREAST OF ISSUES THAT AFFECT AGRICULTURE. LOCAL BOARD MEMBERS ATTENDED STATE CONFERENCES TO NETWORK WITH FARMERS FOR EDUCATIONAL MEETINGS AND ISSUES FACING THE AGRICULTURE INDUSTRY.
IN ORDER TO PROTECT AND PROMOTE THE AGRICULTURE INDUSTRY THE DESOTO COUNTY FARM BUREAU THROUGH ITS STRUCTURE OF VOLUNTEER LEADERS SUPPORT PUBLIC POLICY EFFORTS AT THE LOCAL STATE AND NATIONAL LEVEL. THIS IS ACCOMPLISHED THROUGH BOTH LEGISLATIVE AND REGULATORY MONITORING COMMUNICATIONS WITH MEMBERS AND PUBLIC AWARENESS PROGRAMS ABOUT FARMING. VOLUNETEER MEMBERS PARTICIPATE IN THE SPONSORSHIP OF POLICY MEETINGS WITH THEIR LEGISLATORS TO EDUCATE THEM ABOUT AGRICULTURE ISSUES AND CONCERNS.
THE COUNTY FARM BUREAU IS INVOLVED IN THE PROMOTION OF YOUTH AND YOUTH ACTIVITIES TOWARD A CAREER IN AGRICULTURE. DONATED SAFETY SEATS AND FIRST AID KITS TO VARIOUS FUND RAISERS TO PROMOTE MEMBERSBENEFITS AND THE MISSISSIPPI FARM BUREAU SAFETY PROGRAM.SPONSORED COLORING SHEET CONTESTS TO PROMOTE AGRICULTURE AS WELL AS PROVIDING REFLECTIVE SAFETY TIP HALLOWEEN BAGS FOR LOCAL ELEMENTARY SCHOOLS. HELP PROMOTE GRAIN BIN SAFETY PROGRAMS SPONORED BY THE MISSISSIPPI FARM BUREAU SAFETY DEPARTMENT. FUNDED THREE SCHOLARSHIPS.
