THE ACHIEVEMENT IN THE MAKING (AIM) PROGRAM WORKS WITH SOCIO-ECONOMICALLY NEEDY CHILDREN ON LITERACY, COMPUTER SKILLS, MATH, AND BASIC LIFE LEARNING SKILLS. THIS PROGRAM REACHES OUT TO GIVE THEM A SOLID BASE IN EDUCATION FOR THE FUTURE. STUDENTS IN THE CATCHMENT AREA NEARLY ALL STRUGGLE WITH READING AND GRASPING EDUCATIONAL CONCEPTS, THIS CREATES A MAJOR BARRIER TO STABLE CAREERS AS A SUCCESSFUL ADULT. OFFERED, IS A SUMMER PROGRAM THAT 75 CHILDREN ATTEND IN ADDITION TO THE AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAM. THE CAREER DEVELOPMENT WORKS WITH TEENS ON CAREER CHOICES. THE PROGRAM INCLUDES RESUME BUILDING, HOW TO DRESS FOR SUCCESS, HOW TO COMMUNICATE WITH THE PUBLIC, HOW TO SEARCH FOR A JOB AND OTHER CAREER RELATED SUBJECTS. THE CAREER DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM IS IN THE PUBLIC SCHOOLS AND HOSTS AN INTENSIVE SUMMER PROGRAM. OVER 400 STUDENTS ARE SERVED BY THIS PROGRAM. THE GALLATIN SHALOM ZONE TEACHES LITERACY SKILLS FOR ADULTS, INCLUDING ADULT BASIC EDUCATION AND ENGLISH AS A SECOND LANGUAGE. THESE CLASSES ENCOURAGE AND ASSIST ADULTS TO GET READY FOR THE GED CLASS AND WORK ON BASIC ENGLISH SKILLS.
