THE ANNUAL CONFERENCE IS HELD EACH YEAR IN MAY/JUNE. THE CONFERENCE PROVIDES OUTSTANDING EDUCATIONAL AND NETWORKING OPPORTUNITIES TO MEET AND INTERACT WITH OTHER LOCAL GOVERNMENT OFFICIALS. TOPICS COVERED THIS YEAR INCLUDED STRATEGIC PLANNING, NEW "NORMALS" AFTER COVID-19, DEVELOPING A REGIONAL CASE FOR COASTAL RESILIENCE, NEGOTIATION AND PERSUASION SKILLS, IMPROVING EDUCATIONAL SYSTEMS, PUBLIC-PRIVATE PARTNERSHIPS AND ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT, IMMIGRATION, AND THE IMPACTS OF MINIMUM WAGE. A TOTAL OF 266 INDIVIDUALS REGISTERED FOR THIS YEAR'S CONFERENCE.
THE WINTER INSTITUTE IS A DAY-AND-A-HALF INTERACTIVE CONFERENCE FOR FCCMA FULL MEMBERS. IT IS LIMITED TO 90 FCCMA MEMBERS AND 10 CORPORATE ATTENDEES. IT IS DESIGNED TO BE AN INTENSE, INTERACTIVE WORKSHOP FOR FLORIDA'S CITY AND COUNTY MANAGERS AND ASSISTANTS. THIS YEAR'S TOPIC WAS DEVELOPING EFFECTIVE COMMUNICATION DURING CRISES. THIS TOPIC WAS BROKEN DOWN FURTHER INTO THREE SPECIFIC TOPICS - MEDIA, INTERNAL/ORGANIZATION AND COMUNNITY COMMUNICATIONS. A TOTAL OF 106 INDIVIDUALS REGISTERED FOR THIS YEAR'S WINTER INSTITUTE.
THE SYMPOSIUM IS HELD EACH YEAR IN THE FALL. IT IS A HALF-DAY WORKSHOP FOCUSED ON ONE TOPIC SUCH AS ETHICS. OCCASIONALLY, FCCMA WILL ALSO HOLD A SYMPOSIUM IN THE SPRING. THIS YEAR, A SYMPOSIUM WAS HELD BOTH IN THE FALL AND THE SPRING. THE FALL SYMPOSIUM'S TOPIC COVERED ETHICAL DECISION-MAKING IN THE FACE OF COVID-19. A TOTAL OF 130 INDIVIDUALS REGISTERED FOR THE FALL SYMPOSIUM. THE SPRING SYMPOSIUM'S TOPIC COVERED DIVERSITY, EQUITY AND INCLUSION IN PUBLIC SERVICE. A TOTAL OF 69 INDIVIDUALS REGISTERED FOR THE SPRING SYMPOSIUM.
A SERIES OF WEBINARS ARE HELD THROUGH THE YEAR THAT COVER VARIOUS TOPICS RELEVANT TO FLORIDA'S CITY/COUNTY MANAGERS. SOME OF THE TOPICS COVERED IN WEBINARS THIS YEAR INCLUDED LEADING THROUGH CRISES, PREDICTING THE NUMBER OF CASES OF COVID-19 IN LOCAL AREAS AND PLANNING FOR SUCCESS.
