CONTINUING EDUCATION SEMINARS: GEORGIA LAWYERS ARE REQUIRED TO COMPLETE A SPECIFIC NUMBER OF CONTINUING EDUCATION HOURS EACH YEAR TO MAINTAIN THEIR BAR LICENSE. IN FY2023, GACDL PRODUCED FIVE CONTINUING EDUCATION SEMINARS FOCUSED ON TOPICS SPECIFICALLY RELEVANT TO THE CRIMINAL LEGAL SYSTEM, PRACTICE, AND PROCEDURE TO HELP ITS MEMBERS ACHIEVE THEIR PROFESSIONAL LICENSURE EDUCATION MANDATE WHILE ALSO PROMOTING THE COMMON GOOD OF CRIMINAL DEFENSE. SPECIFICALLY, THOSE SEMINARS INCLUDED: - WINTER - JAN 2023 - FORENSIC SCIENCE - MARCH 2023 - SPRING - APRIL 2023 - TRIAL SKILLS TRAINING - AUG 2023 - FALL - NOV 2023


MEMBERSHIP, GENERALLY: THE FOLLOWING ARE INCLUDED WITH MEMBERSHIP IN SERVICE AND SUPPORT OF THE GACDL COMMUNITY, PARTICULARLY, AND LARGER CRIMINAL LEGAL SYSTEM, MORE BROADLY: - REGULAR ISSUES OF A CASE LAW PUBLICATION WHATS THE DECISION? THAT HIGHLIGHTS RECENT CASES OF IMPORT TO OR IMPACT ON THE CRIMINAL LEGAL SYSTEM - ACCESS TO THE GACDL LISTSERVE WHERE MORE THAN 1,000 MEMBERS EXCHANGE PRACTICE, PROCEDURE, AND GENERAL SUPPORT FOR THEIR LITIGATION EFFORTS, - MEMBERS-ONLY, WEBSITE SECTION THAT PROVIDES ACCESS TO RESOURCES INCLUDING TEMPLATE COURT PLEADINGS,HISTORICAL SEMINAR MATERIALS, PATTERN JURY CHARGES, AND EXPERT WITNESS CONTACT INFORMATION. - NETWORKING WITH MORE THAN 1,200 OTHER MEMBERS, WITH A PRACTICE FOCUS THAT INCLUDES FREE, TEMPORARY, EMERGENCY LEGAL ASSISTANCE FOR MEMBERS WHO FACE PUNISHMENT FROM THE COURT AS A RESULT OF THEIR REPRESENTATION OF A PERSON FACING PROSECUTION IN GEORGIA. - COMMITTEES THROUGH WHICH MEMBERS CAN FORMULATE AND EXPRESS THEIR POSITIONS ON LEGISLATION, JUDICIAL APPOINTMENTS, AMICUS CURIAE BRIEFS, AND OTHER MATTERS AFFECTING THE ADMINISTRATION OF GEORGIAS CRIMINAL LEGAL SYSTEM.
