TO FOSTER THE EFFECTIVENESS OF THE OFFICE OF SHERIFF THROUGH LEADERSHIP, INNOVATIVE PRACTICES, LEGISLATIVE INITIATIVES, EDUCATION, AND TRAINING.
Describe the Organization's Program Activity:
MEMBERSHIP - GENERAL SERVICES PROVIDED TO THE MEMBERS OF THE FL SHERIFFS ASSOCIATION.
TRAINING PROGRAMS - THE FLORIDA SHERIFFS ASSOCIATION SPONSORS AND PROVIDES A VARIETY OF MANAGEMENT AND TECHNICAL TRAINING PROGRAMS. WE HOST TWO MAJOR CONFERENCES FOR SHERIFFS (WINTER AND SUMMER), PLUS OFFER TRAINING SEMINARS FOR SHERIFFS' OFFICE PERSONNEL. TRAINING SEMINARS OFFER EXPERTISE IN LEADERSHIP, HUMAN RESOURCE/RISK MANAGEMENT, ADMINISTRATIVE MANAGEMENT AND OTHER LAW ENFORCEMENT AND CORRECTIONS-ORIENTATED AREAS OF NEED.
COOPERATIVE PURCHASING PROGRAM IS A STATEWIDE PURCHASING CONTRACT FOR LOCAL GOVERNMENTS, COUNTY SHERIFFS, COUNTY GOVERNMENT, LOCAL COUNTY BOARDS, MUNICIPALITIES, POLICE AGENCIES, OR PUBLIC SAFETY AGENCIES AND STATE UNIVERSITIES AND COLLEGES. THE PROGRAM PROVIDES STREAMLINE PURCHASING FOR LOCAL GOVERNMENTS AND THEIR SUBSIDIARIES. THE FLORIDA SHERIFFS ASSOCIATION USES ITS EXPERTISE TO HELP SHERIFFS' OFFICES REDUCE THEIR BUDGETS BY ARRANGING DISCOUNT PURCHASING PROGRAMS.
