NC PRE-KINDERGARTEN-76 FOUR-YEAR OLDS AT RISK OF FAILURE IN KINDERGARTEN RECEIVED QUALITY PRE-KINDERGARTEN SERVICES IN ORDER TO ENHANCE KINDERGARTEN READINESS SKILLS.
CHILD CARE AND EDUCATION QUALITY-THROUGH THE QUALITY CHILD CARE PROGRAM, 22 EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATORS, REPRESENTING 6 CHILD CARE PROGRAMS, ATTENDED NON-CREDIT BASED TRAINING OR WORKSHOPS. 9 TRAININGS WERE PROVIDED. THROUGH THE RESOURCE LENDING LIBRARY, 40 ADULTS UTILIZED THE RESOURCE LENDING LIBRARY, INCLUDING 19 PARENTS AND 15 EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATORS FROM 3 CHILD CARE PROGRAMS. PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT INCENTIVES WERE PROVIDED TO 15 EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATORS WORKING IN 6 CHILD CARE PROGRAMS, HELPING TO PROMOTE A STABLE AND EDUCATED WORKFORCE BY ENCOURAGING PURSUIT OF HIGHER EDUCATION, PROVIDING INCREASED COMPENSATION AND SUPPORTING EMPLOYMENT LONGEVITY. 2 EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATORS FROM 2 CHILD CARE PROGRAMS EARNED EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATION COLLEGE CREDITS.
FAMILY SUPPORT- 3 EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATION PROGRAMS SERVED AS RAISING A READER SITES. 54 CHILDREN PARTICIPATED IN THE PROGRAM. 9 FAMILY LITERACY ACTIVITIES WERE PROVIDED. 77 PARENTS/GUARDIANS PARTICIPATED IN AT LEAST ONE FAMILY LITERACY ACTIVITY. 2 MEDICAL CLINICS PARTICIPATED IN THE REACH OUT AND READ PROGRAM; 205 DEVELOPMENTALLY APPROPRIATE NEW CHILDREN'S BOOKS WERE DISTRIBUTED DURING WELL-CHILD VISITS, CHANGING THE WAY PARENTS INTERACT WITH THEIR CHILDREN AROUND LANGUAGE AND LITERACY AND BUILDING HOME LIBRARIES. ADDITIONAL BOOKS HAVE NOT YET BEEN DISTRIBUTED TO MEDICAL CLINICS SINCE BOOK DONATIONS FROM OTHER SOURCES ARE USED FIRST. 739 CHILDREN PARTICIPATED IN DOLLY PARTON'S IMAGINATION LIBRARY, INCLUDING 110 NEW CHILDREN AND 7,227 BOOKS WERE MAILED TO THE PARTICIPANTS.
