ALAMANCE COUNTY COMMUNITY SERVICES AGENCY IS COMMITTED TO MOVING PEOPLE FROM POVERTY TO ECONOMIC SELF-SUFFICIENCY THROUGH THE PROVISION OF TECHNICAL, INFORMATIONAL, EDUCATIONAL, AND SUPPORT SERVICES.

THE COMMUNITY SERVICES BLOCK GRANT (CSBG) SELF-SUFFICIENCY PROGRAM IS DESIGNED TO PROVIDE COMPREHENSIVE CASE MANAGEMENT SERVICES TO ELIGIBLE INDIVIDUALS AND FAMILIES WITH A FOCUS ON EMPLOYMENT AND BETTER EMPLOYMENT, CHILDCARE, EDUCATION ASSISTANCE, BUDGET MANAGEMENT, LIMITED TRANSPORTATION, HOUSING, AND FOOD ASSISTANCE. DURING FISCAL YEAR 2022/2023 THE PROGRAM ASSISTED 104 FAMILIES WITH 11 FAMILIES RISING ABOVE POVERTY, 10 FAMILIES OBTAINING EMPLOYMENT, 7 FAMILIES OBTAINING BETTER EMPLOYMENT, 5 FAMILIES OBTAINING JOBS WITH MEDICAL BENEFITS, 2 FAMILIES SECURING STANDARD HOUSING, 50 FAMILIES WERE PROVIDED EMERGENCY ASSISTANCE, 10 FAMILIES WERE PROVIDED EMPLOYMENT SUPPORTS, 33 FAMILIES WERE PROVIDED FOOD TO COUNTERACT STARVATION, 1 FAMILY WAS PROVIDED EDUCATION SUPPORTS, 2 FAMILIES WERE PROVIDED CHILD CARE ASSISTANCE, AND 48 FAMILIES MAINTAINED THEIR HOUSING.


EMERGENCY FOOD ASSISTANCE PROGRAM (ERAP) AND CONGREGATE FOOD PROGRAM: ERAP IS DESIGNED TO REDUCE THE NUMBER OF FAMILIES EXPERIENCING FOOD INSECURITIES IN ALAMANCE COUNTY. HOUSEHOLDS EXPERIENCING EMERGENCY SITUATIONS QUALIFY FOR FOOD ASSISTANCE THROUGH EFAP. HOUSEHOLDS WILL RECEIVE EMERGENCY FOOD WHICH MAY INCLUDE A THREE-DAY SUPPLY OF NON-PERISHABLE FOOD ITEMS ONCE EVERY THREE MONTHS. SPECIAL DIETARY FOODS MAY BE AVAILABLE UPON REQUEST. DURING FISCAL YEAR 2022/2023 THE ERAP PROGRAM ASSISTED OVER 470 INDIVIDUALS, WHILE THE CONGREGATE FOOD PROGRAM SERVED 10,904 MEALS.
