Part 3 - Line 4a
NWC EDUCATES WHISTLEBLOWERS BY SPEAKING AT A WIDE ARRAY OF WORKSHOPS, CONFERENCES, AND WEBINARS AND DISSEMINATING REPORTS, FACTSHEETS, AND OTHER MATERIALS THROUGH PARTNER ORGANIZATIONS AND THROUGH ITS WEBSITE, EMAIL, AND SOCIAL MEDIA. IN SOME CASES, WITH PRECEDENT-SETTING POTENTIAL OR OTHERWISE SIGNIFICANT, NWC PROVIDES WHISTLEBLOWERS WITH COMMUNICATIONS AND POLICY SUPPORT. NWC ADVANCES POLICIES IN THE U.S. AND WORLDWIDE THAT PROTECT AND REWARD WHISTLEBLOWERS. NWC PROVIDES NONPARTISAN ADVICE AND ASSISTANCE TO A WIDE ARRAY OF DECISION-MAKERS IN LEGISLATURES AND EXECUTIVE BRANCH AGENCIES ON STRENGTHENING WHISTLEBLOWER PROTECTIONS AND REWARDS AND RESPONDING TO PROPOSALS SUBMITTED BY OTHERS. NWC PLAYED A KEY ROLE IN DRAFTING AND SUPPORTING MAJOR WHISTLEBLOWER LEGISLATION, SUCH AS THE DODD-FRANK ACT, THE SARBANES-OXLEY ACT, AND THE WHISTLEBLOWER PROTECTION ENHANCEMENT ACT. IN ADDITION TO WORKING WITH LEGISLATURES AND AGENCIES, NWC REGULARLY ADVOCATES FOR STRONG WHISTLEBLOWER POLICY IN THE MEDIA AND AT CONFERENCES AND WORKSHOPS. NWC ALSO EDUCATES MEMBERS OF THE PUBLIC AND ENLISTS THEM TO COMMUNICATE THEIR CONCERNS TO POLICYMAKERS THROUGH ITS ACTION ALERT NETWORK. THE NETWORK IS COMPRISED OF OVER TWO HUNDRED THOUSAND CONCERNED CITIZENS WHO HAVE EXPRESSED INTEREST IN STAYING APPRISED OF WHISTLEBLOWER NEWS AND ADDING THEIR VOICES TO THE CAUSE OF PROTECTING WHISTLEBLOWERS. NWC CARRIES OUT A WIDE ARRAY OF EDUCATIONAL ACTIVITIES RANGING FROM TV APPEARANCES TO BRIEFINGS FOR FOREIGN DIGNITARIES ARRANGED BY THE STATE DEPARTMENT. EACH YEAR NWC ORGANIZES A NATIONAL WHISTLEBLOWER APPRECIATION DAY PROGRAM. THIS PROGRAM IS WIDELY ATTENDED BY PROMINENT WHISTLEBLOWERS, WHISTLEBLOWER ADVOCATES, AND TOP POLICYMAKERS FROM CONGRESS AND FEDERAL AGENCIES TO HONOR THE CONTRIBUTIONS OF WHISTLEBLOWERS AROUND THE WORLD. IN 2022, MEMBERS FROM BOTH POLITICAL PARTIES SPOKE AT THE EVENT, IN A NON-PARTISAN MANNER, CELEBRATING WHISTLEBLOWERS. NWC ALSO EDUCATES DECISION-MAKERS AND THE PUBLIC ABOUT THE IMPORTANCE OF WHISTLEBLOWERS IN PRESERVING DEMOCRACY AND THE RULE OF LAW. IN 2022, NWC FOCUSED ON BUILDING AWARENESS ABOUT ANTI-MONEY LAUNDERING AND ANT-CORRUPTION WHISTLEBLOWER PROTECTIONS IN OUR POLICY ADVOCACY PROGRAM.
