Part 3 - Line 4a

PROMOTE AND PRESERVE THE RAILROAD HISTORY OF THE AREA THROUGH TOURIST TRAIN RIDES AND MEMBERSHIP DUES AND DONATIONS. IN 2023 WE HOSTED 12,039 RIDERS FROM OVER 50% OF KANSAS' ZIP CODES, 42 STATES AND 7 COUNTRIES. OUR AREA OF REGULAR RIDERSHIP RANGES FROM KANSAS CITY, LINCOLN, NE, HAYS/GARDEN CITY AND WICHITA/WELLINGTON. WE HAD OVER 190 DEPARTURES FROM OUR HISTORIC 1887 ROCK ISLAND DEPOT IN ABILENE. IN 2023, WE EMBARKED ON AN AGGRESSIVE REINTRODUCTION, MARKETING AND REBRANDING OF OUR RAILROAD TO FOLKS THROUGH ASSISTANCE FROM OUR SERVICES CONTRACTOR, HERITAGE RAIL MANAGEMENT, A SUBSIDIARY OF AMERICAN HERITAGE RAILWAYS (THE OWNER OF A NUMBER OF SUCCESSFUL HERITAGE RAILROADS). WE ADDED SEVERAL EVENT TRAINS INCLUDING PEANUTS GREAT PUMPKIN AND COWTOWN SANTA EXPRESS TO EXTEND OUR SEASON. WE ALSO EXPANDED OUR DINNER TRAIN OPPORTUNITIES. WE FOCUSED OUR EDUCATIONAL ACTIVITIES ON HOW KANSAS RAILROADS GREW KANSAS COMMUNITIES, KANSAS AGRICULTURE, AND KANSAS COMMERCE. WE DEMONSTRATED THE INTERRELATION OF RAILROADS AND AGRICULTURE WITH OUR HOFFMAN GRIST MILL LOCATED AT OUR ENTERPRISE TERMINAL.
