THE MISSION OF THE HERITAGE SOCIETY OF TULSA IS TO RESEARCH, PRESERVE AND SHARE TULSA'S RICH HISTORY IN A MANNER THAT HONORS THE PAST, BUILDS A BRIDGE BETWEEN GENERATIONS AND LEAVES A LEGACY FOR THE FUTURE.
Describe the Organization's Program Activity:
Part 3 - Line 4a
AFTERNOON TEA IS A RECURRING INTERNAL PROGRAM THAT AFFORDS MULTIPLE EDUCATIONAL OPPORTUNITIES FOR GUESTS. THE VERY ENGLISH TRADITION TEACHES PROPER TEA ETIQUETTE TO ADULTS AND CHILDREN. AN ENGLISH HOST SHARES THE TRADITION INCLUDING STORIES OF GROWING UP IN ENGLAND AND THE SIGNIFICANCE TO THE ENGLISH CULTURE. WITH THE HARWELDEN MANSION BEING AN "ENGLISH MANOR," THE TRADITION SHEDS LIGHT ON EARL AND MARY HARWELL'S ENGLISH ANCESTRY, THE ORIGINAL OWNERS, AS WELL AS WHAT TULSA IN THE 1920S WAS LIKE. WE HAVE ADDED A CHILDREN'S AFTERNOON TEA TO OUR PROGRAMMING.
