THE ORGANIZATION PROVIDED FUNDS FOR THE EDUCATIONAL AND EQUIPMENT NEEDS OF THE MEMBERS OF THE SIGNAL HILL POLICE DEPARTMENT IN SUPPORT OF BUILDING BETTER RELATIONSHIPS WITHIN THE COMMMUNITY.-POLICE DEPARTMENT APPRECIATION PROGRAMTHE POLICE FOUNDATION SPONSORED MULTIPLE EVENTS/PROGRAMS TO SHOW APPRECIATION TO POLICE DEPARTMENT PERSONNEL. THE EVENTS INCLUDED: POLICE VOLUNTEER APPRECIATION, HOLIDAY MEALS FOR THOSE WORKING ON THANKSGIVING AND CHRISTMAS DAY.-NATIONAL NIGHT OUTTHE POLICE FOUNDATION SPONSORED THE NATIONAL NIGHT OUT CONCERT ATTENDED BY APPROXIMATELY 600 PEOPLE. THE PURPOSE OF THE EVENT WAS TO PROMOTE POSITIVE POLICE/COMMUNITY RELATIONS.-SENIOR BINGO & LUNCHEONTHE POLICE FOUNDATION SPONSORED AND HOSTED A COMMUNITY RECEOPTION IN RECOGNITION OF THE SIGNAL HILL ACTIVE ADULT PROGRAM. POLICE OFFICERS CALL BINGO GAMES AND JOIN THE SENIORS FOR LUNCH. THIS PROGRAM CREATES POSITIVE INTERACTION BETWEEN THE POLICE DEPARTMENT AND THE SENIOR COMMUNITY.-HOLIDAY OUTREACHTHE POLICE DEPARTMENT AND POLICE FOUNDATION MADE SURE THAT CHRISTMAS MORNING WAS SPECIAL FOR FAMILIES AND INDIVIDUALS IN NEED. SIGNAL HILL POLICE OFFICERS ACCOMPANIED CHILDREN FROM LESS FORTUNATE SIGNAL HILL FAMILIES TO TARGET WHERE THE CHILDREN WERE ABLE TO SHOP FOR THEIR FAMILIES USING GIFT CARDS DONATED BY TARGET. THE FAMILIES WERE THEN TREATED TO A HOLIDAY DINNER PROVIDED BY THE POLICE FOUNDATION. -HALLOWEEN CARNIVALTHE POLICE FOUNDATION PURCHASED HALLOWEEN CANDY BAGS THAT WERE HANDED OUT BY POLICE OFFICERS-RED RIBBON WEEKTHE POLICE FOUNDATION PURCHASED RED RIBBON WEEK BRANDED GIVEAWAYS INCLUDING BRACELETS AND PENCILS AS PART OF THE POLICE DEPARTMENT PARTNERSHIP WITH LOCAL SCHOOLS. RED RIBBON WEEK IS AN EDUCATIONAL PROGRAM TO ENCOURAGE YOUTH TO PARTICIPATE IN DRUG PREVENTION ACTIVITIES.-CHRISTMAS CARD DESIGN CONTESTTHE POLICE FOUNDATION SPONSORED THE POLICE DEPARTMENT'S ANNUAL CHRISTMAS CARD DESIGN CONTEST. FOURTH GRADE STUDENTS FROM ALVARADO ELEMENTARY SCHOOL SUBMITTED DESIGNS TO BE USED FOR THE POLICE DEPARTMENT CHRISTMAS CARD. THE POLICE FOUNDATION PURCHASED GIFT CARDS THAT WERE AWARDED TO THE WINNER AND RUNNER UP. -FAMILY BINGO NIGHTTHE POLICE FOUNDATION SPONSORED FAMILY BINGO NIGHT ATTENDED BY SIGNAL HILL FAMILIES. POLICE OFFICERS CALL BINGO GAMES AND CREATE POSITIVE INTERACTION BETWEEN THE POLICE DEPARTMENT AND CHILDREN AND THEIR PARENTS.
