THE MISSION OF THE CHIEF PROBABTION OFFICERS OF CALIFORNIA IS TO PROVIDE LEADERSHIP IN THE MOBILIZATION, COORDINATION, AND IMPLEMENTATION OF PROBATION PROGRAMS; AND PROVIDE FOR PUBLIC PROTECTION INCLUDING DETENTION AND TREATMENT, VICTIM SERVICES, AND THE PREVENTION OF CRIME AND DELINQUENCY; AND TO INSURE THE PROVISION OF QUALITY INVESTITGATIONS AND SUPERVISION OF OFFENDERS FOR THE COURTS.

PROBATION DEPARTMENTS THROUGHOUT CALIFORNIA ARE DEVELOPING AND IMPLEMENTING CREATIVE AND INNOVATIVE PROGRAMS THAT PROVIDE SAFETY TO THE COMMUNITY, HOLD DEFENDANTS ACCOUNTABLE WHILE PROVIDING NEEDED SERVICES, AND MAKE THE BEST USE OF CONTINUALLY SHRINKING RESOURCES. THE CHIEF PROBATION OFFICERS OF CALIFORNIA IS PROUD TO PROVIDE INFORMATION AND RESOURCES REGARDING THESE PROGRAMS.
EACH YEAR THE CHIEF PROBATION OFFICERS OF CALIFORNIA SELECT OUTSTANDING EMPLOYEES AND OTHER PERSONS WHO MAKE SIGNIFICANT CONTRIBUTIONS TO THE FIELD OF PROBATION AND PRESENT THE AWARDS AT A LUNCHEON IN DECEMBER. WINNERS ARE SELECTED FROM NOMINATIONS RECEIVED FROM A CHIEF PROBATION OFFICER. EACH AFFILIATE ORGANIZATION (PBMA, CAPSA, CAPIA, AND PITMA) SELECTS THEIR HONOREE. CHIEFS NOMINATE THEIR STAFF AND A WINNER IS SELECTED FOR EACH CPOC REGION. THE CPOC EMPLOYEE OF THEYEAR IS SELECTED FROM THE FIVE REGIONAL WINNERS.
PARTNERING WITH CALIFORNIA STATE AGENCIES - THE CHIEF PROBATION OFFICERS OF CALIFORNIA THROUGH THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR AND EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE OF CPOC HAVE DEVELOPED AND MAINTAINED WORKING REALTIONSHIPS WITH MANY STATE AGENCIES TO BETTER SERVE THE PEOPLE OF CALIFORNIA AND TO CARRY OUT THE CPOC MISSION.
