DEATH BENEFIT & GIFTS-IN THE EVENT OF A POLICE OFFICER DEATH THE STOCKTON POLICE OFFICERS ASSOCIATION (SPOA) GIVES A CASH AMOUNT BASED UPON THE SERVICE PERIOD OF THE OFFICER TO SPOUSES OR CHILDREN OF THE DECEASED POLICE OFFICER. THE SPOA ALSO PROVIDES SMALL GIFTS ON SPECIAL DAYS THROUGHOUT THE YEAR TO WIDOWS OF FALLEN POLICE OFFICERS. IN 2021, A STOCKTON POLICE OFFICER DIED ON DUTY AND SPOA RAISED AND DISBURSED $296,644 TO HIS WIDOW AND CHILDREN.
PORAC PROGRAMS-THE SPOA CONTRIBUTES TO THE PEACE OFFICERS RESEARCH ASSOCIATION (PORAC). PORAC PROVIDES INSURANCE AND DISABILITY BENEFITS FOR THE MEMBERS. ADDITIONALLY, THE SPOA CONTRIBUTES TO THE PORAC LEGAL DEFENCE FUND. THIS FUND IS THE NATION'S LARGEST LEGAL DEFENSE FUND RUN BY AND FOR PEACE OFFICERS. THE FUND IS AN ERISA TRUST THAT PROVIDES LEGAL SERVICE BENEFITS FOR PUBLIC SAFETY PERSONAL.
INSURANCE-THE SPOA COLLECTS DUES FROM THE STOCKTON POLICE OFFICERS. A PORTION OF THESE DUES ARE ALLOCATED TO PROVIDE MEMBERS WITH LIFE AND DISABILITY INSURANCE FOR THEIR BENEFIT.
