Part 3
THE INSTITUTES FUNDRAISING ACTIVITIES IN BOTH THE U.S. AND FRANCE CONTINUED TO BE SIGNIFICANTLY HAMPERED IN 2021 AS A RESULT OF THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC AND RELATED TRAVEL RESTRICTIONS. THE NORMANDY INSTITUTE PRODUCED AND RELEASED AN EDUCATIONAL FILM FOR THE D-DAY COMMEMORATION WEEK TITLED CONGRESS SALUTES THE VETERANS, IN WHICH MEMBERS OF THE U.S. CONGRESS SHARE THEIR STORIES ABOUT WHY WORLD WAR II MATTERS TO THEM PERSONALLY. THE INSTITUTE PRODUCED A SECOND FILM, TITLED THE REAL MEN OF EASY COMPANY, IN TRIBUTE TO THE 20TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE HBO TELEVISION SERIES BAND OF BROTHERS. USING FOOTAGE FROM A 2005 REUNION OF THE REMAINING MEMBERS OF EASY COMPANY, THE FILM FOLLOWED THE VETERANS AS THEY RETRACED THEIR STEPS THROUGH NORMANDY, THE ARDENNES AND HOLLAND. THE REUNION HAD BEEN ORGANIZED AND HOSTED BY THE FOUNDER OF THE NORMANDY INSTITUTE. STREAMING ON THE INSTITUTES WEBSITE AND YOUTUBE CHANNEL, THE FILMS GARNERED MORE THAN 250,000 VIEWS. THE EXPOSURE PROVIDED A UNIQUE OPPORTUNITY TO MAINTAIN AND FURTHER EXPAND THE INSTITUTES PROFILE AMONG VETERANS, GLOBAL MILITARY LEADERS, U.S. CONGRESSIONAL REPRESENTATIVES, HISTORIANS AND OTHER SUPPORTERS.
