THE MISSION OF THE JUNEAU HOUSING FIRST COLLABORATIVE IS TO END HOMELESSNESS AND TO STABILIZE LIVES AND COMMUNITY THROUGH COLLABORATIVE PARTNERSHIP USING HOUSING FIRST PHILOSOPHY, SPECIFICALLY TO PROVIDE AFFORDABLE, PERMANENT, SUPPORTIVE HOUSING.

THE JUNEAU HOUSING FIRST PROJECT PROVIDES PERMANENT SUPPORTIVE HOUSING UNITS THAT TARGETS JUNEAUS HIGHLY VULNERABLE CHRONIC HOMELESS POPULATION WHO ARE CHEMICALLY DEPENDENT AND EXHIBIT AN EXTENSIVE HISTORY OF EMERGENCY SERVICE UTILIZATION. MANY OF THESE INDIVIDUALS HAVE CO-OCCURRING DISORDERS (SUBSTANCE ABUSE & MENTAL HEALTH DISORDERS). THE PROJECT PROVIDES SAFE AND SECURE HOUSING TO 65 RESIDENTS IN ORDER TO FACILITATE DIGNIFIED LIVES, A HEALTHY COMMUNITY, AND PROVIDES SIGNIFICANT COST SAVINGS TO THE COMMUNITY. PHASE 2 OF THE BUILDING OPENED IN THE FALL OF 2021, PROVIDING AN INCREASE OF 33 ROOMS (UP FROM 32 IN THE PRIOR FISCAL YEAR).
