EBTM/BEAM FOUNDATION THAILAND TRAUMA CENTERYOUNG,TRAUMATIZED BURMESE ARE CROSSING INTO THE THAILAND/MYANMAR AREA TO ESCAPE THE VIOLENCE IN MYANMAR. THIS IS CREATING A SERIOUS MENTAL HEALTH CRISIS. TREATING PEOPLE WITH TRAUMA INSIDE MYANMAR IS COUNTERPRODUCTIVE AND DANGEROUS; PATIENTS NEED A MEASURE OF SAFETY TO BEING THE RECOVERY PROCESS.BEAM PURCHASED LAND IN MAE SOT, THAILAND ON THE THAILAND/MYANMAR BORDER IN JUNE 2022 AND STARTED CONSTRUCTION ON AN IN-PERSON TREATMENT FACILITY. OUR CLINICAL TEAM,LED BY A MYANMAR PSYCHOLOGIST, WILL BEGIN TREATING YOUNG MYANMAR TRAUMA PATIENTS IN THE FALL OF 2023.
EBTM/BEAM MYANMAR/THAILAND PROJECT:BEAM MYANMARTHE MILITARY VIOLENCE INCREASED IN 2022 FOLLOWING THE 2021 COUP. BEAM MYANMAR CONTINUED TO SUPPLY EMERGENCY FOOD AND MEDICAL SUPPLIES IN THE JUNGLE AREAS ALONG THE THAI/MYANMAR BORDER TO THOSE MOST IMPACTED. THE EDUCATION SYSTEM IN MYANMAR HAS ALSO BEEN BROKEN BY THE COUP.
