THE MISSION OF THE "FRIENDS OF IIASA" ORGANIZATION (HENCEFORTH, FOI) IS TO SOLICIT AND DISTRIBUTE FUNDS THAT WILL BE USED TO FOSTER AND SUPPORT RESEARCH ON THE LARGE PROBLEMS AND CHALLENGES FACING MANKIND. IN GENERAL, THE RESEARCH SUPPORTED WILL BE CONDUCTED AT OR IN ASSOCIATION WITH THE INTERNATIONAL INSTITUTE FOR APPLIED SYSTEMS ANALYSIS (IIASA), A 501(C)3 ORGANIZATION LOCATED IN LAXENBURG, AUSTRIA.

FRIENDS OF IIASA SUPPORTED PLANNING AND FUNDRAISING FOR THE HOWARD RAIFFA CENTER, AN INITIATIVE IN HONOR OF IIASA'S FIRST DIRECTOR. ACTIVITIES INCLUDED CONSULTATIONS WITH STAKEHOLDERS BY FOI EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR MARGARET COLLINS AND FOI VOLUNTEER JUDY RAIFFA, TO GATHER INPUT FROM HOWARD RAIFFA'S COLLEAGUES AND MENTEES, AND TO CONSULT WITH IIASA OFFICIALS. THE ACTIVITIES WERE CURTAILED BY THE ADVENT OF COVID.
APPLIED FOR AND RECEIVED PRO BONO CONSULTATION FROM SALESFORCE TO FACILITATE THE INPUT DATA ON IIASA COMMUNITY MEMBERS, IN ORDER TO IMPROVE FRIENDS OF IIASA COMMUNICATION AND FUNDRAISING CAPABILITIES.
FRIENDS OF IIASA AWARDED GRANTS TO IIASA, IN SUPPORT OF PARTICIPANTS IN THE YOUNG SCIENTISTS SUMMER PROGRAM FOR 2020, INCLUDING A DONOR-DESIGNATED PARTICIPANT FROM GHANA.
