EXCITE: EXTENSION COLLABORATIVE ON IMMUNIZATION, TEACHING & ENGAGEMENTTO HELP PROMOTE VACCINE CONFIDENCE AND UPTAKE, THE CENTERS FOR DISEASE CONTROL AND PREVENTION (CDC) AND THE NATIONAL INSTITUTE OF FOOD AND AGRICULTURE HAVE ENTERED INTO AN INTERAGENCY AGREEMENT TO ENGAGE LAND-GRANT UNIVERSITIES (LGUS) AND THE COOPERATIVE EXTENSION SYSTEM (CES) TO IMPROVE VACCINATION COVERAGE IN RURAL AND OTHER MEDICALLY UNDERSERVED COMMUNITIES.
CENTER OF EXCELLENCE FOR FARMING SYSTEMS AND RURAL PROPOSPERITY AND ECONOMIC SUSTAINABILITY (CISFRL): THE INTENT OF THE 1890 CENTERS OF EXCELLENCE PROGRAM IS TO PROVIDE SUPPORT FOR CENTERS OF EXCELLENCE THAT WERE ORIGINALLY ESTABLISHED IN 2015 IN CONJUNCTION WITH THE 125TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE SECOND MORRILL ACT OF 1890. THE 1890 COES ARE HOSTED BY 1890 LAND-GRANT INSTITUTIONS WITH THE GOALS OF: 1) INCREASING PROFITABILITY AND RURAL PROSPERITY IN UNDERSERVED FARMING COMMUNITIES; 2) ADDRESSING CRITICAL NEEDS FOR ENHANCED INTERNATIONAL TRAINING AND DEVELOPMENT; AND 3) INCREASING DIVERSITY IN THE SCIENCE, TECHNOLOGY, ENGINEERING, AGRICULTURE AND MATHEMATICS (STEAM) PIPELINE.
CENTER FOR INNOVATION AND SUSTAINABILITY FOR SMALL FARMS, RANCHES AND FOREST LANDS (SFRLS):THE CISFRL'S OVERALL GOAL IS FOR 1890 LGUS TO SHARE AND LEVERAGE BEST PRACTICES, INNOVATIONS, TECHNOLOGIES AND PERSONNEL TO BETTER ADDRESS THE PROFITABILITY AND SUSTAINABILITY OF SMALL FARMS, RANCHES AND FOREST LANDS (SFRLS) ACROSS AN EIGHTEEN STATE REGION OVER THE SHORT AND LONG TERM. THE CISFRL MANAGEMENT APPROACH BUILDS ON THE SUCCESSES OF THE SOUTHERN FOOD SYSTEMS EDUCATION CONSORTIUM (SOFSEC) EXPERIENCE AND THE PILOT 125TH ANNIVERSARY 1890 CENTER OF EXCELLENCE;, 2015-2017.
