MOVEMENT EXCHANGE UNITES DANCE AND SERVICE, ADDRESSING THE LACK OF ACCESSIBLE DANCE EDUCATION IN UNDERSERVED COMMUNITIES WHILE PROVIDING AN AVENUE FOR DANCERS TO GIVE BACK. IN THE UNITED STATES OUR UNIVERSITY CHAPTERS PROVIDED IN PERSON DANCE EDUCATION PROGRAMS IN THEIR LOCAL COMMUNITIES, OFFERING FREE DANCE CLASSES TO INDIVIDUALS IN YOUTH FOUNDATIONS, HOMELESS SHELTERS, DOMESTIC VIOLENCE SHELTERS, SCHOOLS WITH STUDENTS WITH DISABILITIES AND MORE. IN 2021, OUR NETWORK OF OVER 80 CHAPTER MEMBERS PROVIDED 131 DANCE SERVICE HOURS IN 103 CLASSES TO OVER 1,368 BENEFICIARIES. WE ALSO EXPANDED OUR PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT OPPORTUNITIES FOR OUR UNIVERSITY STUDENTS THIS YEAR, OFFERING WORKSHOPS IN DANCE PEDAGOGY, LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT, AND HOSTED OUR ANNUAL LEADERSHIP CONFERENCE WITH GUEST PRESENTERS AS WELL. MOVEMENT EXCHANGE HOSTED THREE INTERNATIONAL DANCE EXCHANGES TO PANAMA IN 2022 WITH UNIVERSITY STUDENTS FROM LOYOLA MARYMOUNT UNIVERSITY, WESTERN MICHIGAN UNIVERSITY, UC IRVINE, AND UNIVERSITY OF CINCINNATI. OUR DANCE DIPLOMATS PROVIDED 1,470 HOURS OF FREE DANCE INSTRUCTION, DANCE WORKSHOPS, AND DANCE CULTURAL EXCHANGE WHILE IN PANAMA. IN PANAMA, OUR FOUR YEAR ROUND INSTRUCTORS PROVIDED 330 HOURS OF IN PERSON DANCE EDUCATION PROGRAMS TO YOUTH AT ORPHANAGES AND FOUNDATIONS ON A WEEKLY BASIS. WE ALSO HOSTED FIELD TRIPS TO MUSEUMS, SPECIALTY DANCE WORKSHOPS AND EVENTS, VISITS TO PERFORMANCES, CHRISTMAS GIFT DELIVERIES, AND MORE FOR OUR PANAMANIAN STUDENTS. MOVEMENT EXCHANGE IS PROUD OF THE YEAR WE HAD BRINGING OUR PROGRAMMING BACK IN PERSON AFTER THE PANDEMIC AND REBUILDING THE OPPORTUNITIES WE OFFER FOR YOUTH AROUND THE WORLD.
