OVER THE PAST YEAR, THE PROJECT HAS MADE SIGNIFICANT INVESTMENTS IN THE DEVELOPMENT OF INFRASTRUCTURE, AND THE INSTALLATION OF EXPERIMENTAL FOOD FOREST SYSTEMS. INFRASTRUCTURE DEVELOPMENTS INCLUDE FOUR LARGE SCALE AGROFORESTRY SYSTEMS THAT WERE ESTABLISHED, AND REQUIRE ONGOING MAINTENANCE SINCE THEY ARE BASED ON PRINCIPLES OF ACCELERATING NATURAL BIOLOGICAL PROCESSES. THE GOAL OF THESE DEVELOPMENT ACTIVITIES WAS TO ESTABLISH BIODIVERSE FORESTS IN FIVE YEARS, THAT PROVIDE EQUIVALENT PRODUCTION TO WHAT NATURE PROVIDES IN 20 YEARS. CONSTRUCTION ACTIVITIES INCLUDED THE DEVELOPMENT OF A COMMUNITY KITCHEN FOR STUDENTS AND INTERNS, WORKSHOPS, AND AN OUTDOOR TEACHING FACILITY.

SEVERAL ITEMS THROUGHOUT THE YEAR, INSTRUCTORS IN THE SPECIALTY AREAS VISIT THE SITE TO CONDUCT CLASSES AND WORK IN THE FIELD ALONGSIDE THE INTERNS, TO GUIDE THE MAINTENANCE AND DEVELOPMENT OF THE ESTABLISHED SYSTEMS.
