RCFL'S MISSION IS TO ACT AS AN AGENT OF HOPE AND TRANSFORMATION TO PRESERVE A VIBRANT COMMUNITY IN THE HARRISON NEIGHBORHOOD & BROADER NORTH MINNEAPOLIS.

PROPERTY MANAGEMENTRCFL AIMS TO PROVIDE ATTAINABLE HOUSING IN AN AREA OF MINNEAPOLIS WHERE IT IS HIGHLY NEEDED. WE MAINTAIN 26 LIVING UNITS INCLUDING 16 EFFICIENCIES, 7 MULTI-BEDROOM APARTMENTS, AND 1 SINGLE-FAMILY HOUSE. IN 2021, RCFL HOUSED 54 INDIVIDUALS INCLUDING THREE FAMILIES AND SIX CHILDREN. WE MAINTAINED A 100% OCCUPANCY RATE. IN RESPONSE TO COVID-19 UNCERTAINTIES, WE DEVELOPED AN EMERGENCY RENT FUND WITHIN OUR BUDGET TO COVER THE COST OF ANY RENT THAT GOES UNPAID DUE TO LAYOFFS FROM COVID-19.


COMMUNITY STRATEGIESTHE HEALTH COMMONS CONTINUED TO ENGAGE NEIGHBORS IN HOLISTIC WELLNESS, ALTHOUGH THEY DID NOT MEET FOR THEIR USUAL CLASSES DUE TO COVID-19. THE URBAN FARM PROVIDED INDIVIDUAL GARDEN PLOTS AND HOSTED GARDENING DAYS UTILIZING THE PIZZA OVEN FOR SOCIALLY DISTANCED, LOW ATTENDANCE OUTDOOR EVENTS.IN JANUARY 2020, RCFL CONTINUED AN ANNUAL "WINTER EXTRAVAGANZA" WHERE COMMUNITY MEMBERS WERE INVITED TO ENJOY TWO DAYS OF FREE SNOW TUBING, SNOW SHOEING, AND SKIING AT THE LOPPET TRAILHEAD AT THEODORE WIRTH PARK. DURING THE COURSE OF THESE TWO WINTER EVENTS, OVER 300 PEOPLE ATTENDED. RCFL PLANS TO CONTINUE THE ANNUAL EVENT, ALBEIT A SMALLER VERSION IN 2021 DUE TO COVID-19. THEODORE WIRTH PARK IS GEOGRAPHICALLY VERY CLOSE TO REDEEMER, BUT FEW NEIGHBORS GO TO THE PARK AND THE LOPPET TRAILHEAD ESPECIALLY. MAKING THE PARK ACTIVITIES ACCESSIBLE TO NEIGHBORS HELPED MITIGATE THE EFFECTS OF GENTRIFICATION.


VENTURE NORTHVENTURE NORTH BIKE AND COFFEE SHOP CONTINUED TO SERVE THE COMMUNITY DURING THE PANDEMIC AS AN ESSENTIAL SERVICE FOR TRANSPORTATION. $21,000 IN BIKE SALES WERE MADE AND PEOPLE WERE ABLE TO MAKE APPOINTMENTS FOR TUNE-UPS AND TIRE CHANGES BY OUR STAFF. RCFL EMPLOYED TWO PAST STEP UP INTERNS AGAIN THROUGH 2021 AS BARISTA AND BIKE MECHANIC.
