Describe the Organization's Program Activity:
Part 3 - Line 4a
OUR SHELTER, LOCATED AT 593 FAIRVIEW AVE, SERVES AS THE EPICENTER OF FELINE RESCUE'S OPERATIONS. THE SHELTER PROVIDES A SAFE AND NURTURING ENVIRONMENT WHERE CATS RECEIVE ESSENTIAL VETERINARY SERVICES, INCLUDING STERILIZATION SURGERY AND RABIES VACCINATIONS, AND ARE PREPARED FOR ADOPTION. THE SHELTER IS A COMFORTING SPACE FOR THOSE WHO MAKE THE DECISION TO SURRENDER A CHERISHED PET, AND IT'S A WELCOMING SPACE FOR THOSE LOOKING TO BRING HOME A NEW BEST FRIEND. WE ALSO HOST EDUCATIONAL EVENTS TO PROMOTE RESPONSIBLE PET OWNERSHIP AND COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT. THROUGH OUR SHELTER PROGRAM, WE STRIVE TO CREATE A SAFE TRANSITION FOR CATS AS THEY LOOK FOR A PERMANENT HOME. IN 2023 ALONE, WE SUCCESSFULLY ADOPTED OUT 763 CATS TO 624 UNIQUE ADOPTERS, REFLECTING OUR COMMITMENT TO FINDING LOVING HOMES FOR EVERY CAT.
SINCE ITS INCEPTION IN 1997, FELINE RESCUE'S FOSTER PROGRAM HAS BEEN A MAINSTAY OF OUR MISSION TO PROVIDE CARE, VETERINARY SERVICES, AND ADOPTION OPPORTUNITIES FOR CATS WITH INTENSIVE NEEDS. OUR PROGRAM SUPPORTS CATS THAT STRUGGLE IN TRADITIONAL ADOPTION CENTERS, INCLUDING PREGNANT AND NURSING CATS, UNDERAGE ORPHAN KITTENS, INJURED CATS, THOSE WITH CHRONIC MEDICAL CONDITIONS, AND ELDERLY OR FRAIL CATS. BY PLACING THESE CATS IN FOSTER HOMES, WE ENSURE THEY RECEIVE INDIVIDUALIZED ATTENTION AND CARE FOR THEIR HIGHLY SPECIALIZED MEDICAL OR BEHAVIORAL NEEDS PRIOR TO ADOPTION.
OUR OUTREACH PROGRAM IS DEDICATED TO SUPPORTING THE TWIN CITIES METRO AREA IN MANAGING AND CARING FOR COMMUNITY CATS. WE PROVIDE EXPERT ADVICE ON BEST PRACTICES, OFFER ASSESSMENTS AND REFERRALS FOR CATS IN NEED, AND FUND TRAP-NEUTER-RETURN (TNR) EFFORTS THROUGH DONATIONS. ADDITIONALLY, WE LOAN ESSENTIAL EQUIPMENT, SUCH AS LIVE TRAPS AND HEATED WATER BOWLS, AND DISTRIBUTE INSULATED WINTER SHELTERS TO ENSURE THE WELL-BEING OF OUTDOOR CAT COLONIES. OUR PROGRAM IS A VITAL RESOURCE FOR FIELD RESCUERS AND LOW-INCOME COMMUNITY MEMBERS COMMITTED TO HUMANE CAT CARE.
