DBA LEADMN IS AN ASSOCIATION OF COLLEGE STUDENTS CONNECTING FOR CHANGE IN HIGHER EDUCATION REPRESENTING OVER 180,000 TWO-YEAR COLLEGE STUDENTS FROM EVERY CORNER OF MINNESOTA TO ADVOCATE FOR OPENING THE DOORS TO OPPORTUNITY TO EVERY PERSON IN MINNESOTA.

LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT: MSCSA EDUCATES STUDENT LEADERS THROUGH SKILL DEVELOPMENT TRAININGS LEADERSHIP CONFERENCES AND ONE-ON-ONE CONVERSATIONS TO PROVIDE THEM THE TOOLS NECESSARY TO RAISE CONCERNS IDENTIFY SOLUTIONS AND BUILD COALITIONS OF STUDENT ADMINISTRATORS STAFF AND FACULTY TO IMPLEMENT CHANGE. THIS PAST YEAR AN ONLINE LEARNING PLATFORM CALLED THE LEADMN LAB WAS USED TO HELP STUDENTS DEVELOP CRITICAL LEADERSHIP SKILLS. THIS PAST YEAR MSCSA HELD SIX LEADERSHIP CONFERENCES. REGULAR COMMUNICATIONS IS ALSO SENT OF SENATE PRESIDENTS ACROSS THE STATE AND MSCSA VISITS CAMPUSES TO TRAIN STUDENTS AROUND CIVIC ENGAGEMENT ACTIVITIES.
ADVOCACY: MSCSA WORKS TO UPLIFT THE VOICES OF COMMUNITY AND TECHNICAL COLLEGE STUDENTS ON CAMPUS WITH KEY DECISION MAKERS AND IN OUR COMMUNITIES. THIS PAST YEAR LEADMN HELPED STUDENTS REGISTER TO VOTE AND CAST THEIR BALLOTS IN A SAFE MANNER. THROUGHOUT THE PANDEMIC MSCSA LISTENED TO STUDENTS VOICE AND MADE SURE THAT DECISION MAKERS UNDERSTOOD HOW THE PANDEMIC WAS AFFECTING THEM AND WAYS THAT THEY COULD BETTER SUPPORT STUDENTS THROUGHOUT THIS DIFFICULT TIME. MSCSA REPRESENTS STUDENT INTEREST AT THE COLLEGE SYSTEM STATE AND FEDERAL LEVELS. ON THE FEDERAL LEVEL MSCSA LEAD A GROUP OF STUDENTS TO VISIT WASHINGTON DC TO MEET WITH FEDERAL LAWMAKERS. ALSO ONCE A YEAR AN ADVOCACY DAY EVENT IS HELD WHERE STUDENTS ARE ENCOURAGED TO PARTICIPATE.
SCHOLARSHIP & EMERGENCY ASSISTANCE: MSCSA RAISES FUNDS AND PROVIDES SCHOLARSHIPS TO STUDENTS ACROSS MINNESOTA WHO DEMONSTRATE LEADERSHIP ON THEIR CAMPUSES AND IN THEIR COMMUNITIES. THIS PAST YEAR MSCSA CONTINUED OPERATING AN EMERGENCY GRANT PROGRAM TO SUPPORT STUDENTS THAT HAVE BEEN IMPACTED BY THE PANDEMIC. THIRTY SIX 36 GRANTS RANGING FROM $100 TO $200 WERE AWARDED TOTALLY $5,400. THERE WERE ALSO ANOTHER 91 SCHOLARSHIPS AWARDED TOTALING $70,200 TO HELP PROVIDE FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE TO STUDENTS TO HELP CONTINUE THEIR COLLEGE EDUCATION AND TO PROVIDE RECOGNITION FOR THEIR ACCOMPLISHMENTS.
