TO TRAIN AND INSPIRE STUDENTS OF ALL AGES IN THE PERFORMING ARTS WHILE INSTILLING THE QUALITIES OF CONFIDENCE, SELF-DISCIPLINE, CREATIVITY AND RESPECT FOR OTHERS.

CAMP TRAINING / PRODUCTIONS: TYPICALLY (9) 3-WEEK LONG CAMPS ARE HELD DURING THE SUMMER, STAFFED WITH 2 -5 EMPLOYEES. CAMPS CULMINATE IN MUSICAL OR NON-MUSICAL PRODUCTIONS. 2 CAMPS WITH APPROXIMATELY 30 STUDENTS EACH ARE FOR AGES 4 TO 7. THERE ARE 4 CAMPS WITH APPROXIMATELY 40 STUDENTS EACH FOR AGES 7 TO 12. THERE IS ONE TEEN CAMP FOR AGES 12 TO 19 WITH ABOUT 35 STUDENTS. THERE IS 1 ACTING, NON-MUSICAL THEATRE CAMP FOR STUDENTS AGES 10 TO 19 WITH APPROXIMATELY 20 STUDENTS. THE CULMINATING PRODUCTIONS OF THE CAMPS INCLUDE COSTUMES, LIGHTS/SETS, AUDIENCE, AND MULTIPLE PERFORMANCES. IN ADDITION, WE OFFER 8 ONE-WEEK CAMPS THROUGHOUT THE YEAR FOR AGES 4-7 & 7-12 WITH APPROXIMATELY 15-25 STUDENTS IN EACH CAMP THAT INCLUDE A CASUAL PERFORMANCE AT THE END OF EACH SESSION. SPINDRIFT PRODUCES 2 LARGE-SCALE SHOWS EACH YEAR IN DECEMBER/JANUARY & IN JUNE WITH AN ENTIRE YOUTH CAST. PARTICIPATION IS BY AUDITION ONLY. STUDENTS REHEARSE FOR 4 MONTHS AND ARE PRODUCED ON THE PACIFICA SPINDRIFT PLAYERS THEATRE MAIN STAGE. APPROXIMATELY 40 STUDENTS PARTICIPATE IN THIS PRODUCTION THAT HOLDS OVER 15 PERFORMANCES FOR A PAYING AUDIENCE OF APPROXIMATELY 1500-2000 PEOPLE OVER THE COURSE OF THE PRODUCTION. FUNDRAISING FOR OUR TUITION ASSISTANCE PROGRAM (SCHOLARSHIPS) TAKES PLACE DURING THIS TIME OF YEAR AND THROUGHOUT THE RUN OF THESE PRODUCTIONS WE ALSO DO 2 MTI JR. PRODUCTIONS WHICH ARE MUSICAL THEATRE AND TWO PLAY PRODUCTION CLASSES DOING NON- MUSICAL PLAYS. ONE DURING THE FALL AND ONE IN THE SPRING. THESE ARE FOR THE STUDENTS AGES 10-12. APPROXIMATELY 20-25 STUDENTS IN EACH PRODUCTION, CULMINATING IN A FULL WEEKEND OF 3 SHOWS WITH PAID AUDIENCES.
CLASSES/LESSONS/SPECIAL EVENTS SPINDRIFT SCHOOL OF PERFORMING ARTS (SSPA) OFFERS PRIVATE LESSONS AND GROUP CLASSES IN MUSIC, THEATRE, AND DANCE AT OUR FACILITIES YEAR-ROUND. SPINDRIFT DANCE COMPANY (SDC) IS A YEAR-ROUND DANCE COMPANY AND TYPICALLY COMPRISES 4 LEVELS OF EXPERTISE. THERE ARE APPROXIMATELY 5-10 STUDENTS IN EACH LEVEL, WITH APPROXIMATELY 20 PARTICIPATING IN FALL TRAININGS AND 30 PARTICIPATING IN THE SPRING COMPANY. THESE STUDENTS TRAIN 4 HOURS PER WEEK DURING THE SPRING SESSION AND 2 HOURS PER WEEK DURING THE FALL PREP SESSION. ALL SDC STUDENTS TAKE ADDITIONAL SUPPLEMENTARY DANCE CLASSES. PRIVATE LESSONS ARE OFFERED YEAR-ROUND WITH 170 STUDENTS AND 11 INSTRUCTORS IN VOICE, PIANO, GUITAR, VIOLIN & CELLO. DANCE, ACTING & MUSICAL THEATRE CLASSES ARE OFFERED ON-SITE FROM AUGUST THROUGH JUNE FOR AGES 6MO TO 18. STUDENTS PROGRESS THROUGH DANCE LEVELS IN AGE-APPROPRIATE OFFERINGS. ACTING AND MUSICAL THEATRE CLASSES THAT ARE NOT PRODUCTION CLASSES DO A LAST CLASS PERFORMANCE. DANCERS HAVE A RECITAL 2X A YEAR AND PRIVATE MUSIC STUDENTS ALSO HAVE RECITAL 2X A YEAR.
RESIDENCIES: AFTER-SCHOOL, IN-SCHOOL, AND OUTREACH PROGRAMS AFTER-SCHOOL - SPINDRIFT TEACHES AFTER-SCHOOL CLASSES AT EVERY ELEMENTARY SCHOOL IN THE PACIFICA SCHOOL DISTRICT AS WELL AS PANORAMA AND LIPMAN IN THE BRISBANE SCHOOL DISTRICT. CLASSES INCLUDE HIP HOP, MUSICAL THEATRE, AND JAZZ. SPINDRIFT ALSO TEACHES CREATIVE MOVEMENT ENRICHMENT CLASSES IN RESIDENCE AT LOCAL PRESCHOOLS IN PACIFICA AND SAN FRANCISCO. THESE CLASSES ARE ALL OPTIONAL AND ARE PAID FOR BY PARENTS. EACH CLASS SERVES APPROXIMATELY 5-20 STUDENTS. WE PRODUCE 2 DANCE RECITALS PER YEAR AT THE CONCLUSION OF EACH TERM. ALL OF OUR AFTERSCHOOL CLASSES PARTICIPATE IN THE RECITALS. IN-SCHOOL - SPINDRIFT PARTNERS WITH VALLEMAR SCHOOL IN THE PACIFICA SCHOOL DISTRICT TO PROVIDE A DANCE FITNESS CLASS FOR THE SCHOOL'S UPPER GRADES. AT CABRILLO SCHOOL OF PSD, SPINDRIFT PROVIDES IN-SCHOOL DRAMA/THEATRE CLASSES FOR GRADES KINDERGARTEN TO 8TH GRADE AS PART OF THEIR ARTS CURRICULUM. THE CABRILLO CLASSES CULMINATE IN VARIOUS PERFORMANCES THAT NOT ONLY HIGHLIGHT ARTS LEARNING BUT INTEGRATED LEARNING WITH THE SOCIAL SCIENCES AND HISTORY. THE CABRILLO PTO FUNDS THESE CLASSES. OUTREACH - SPINDRIFT PROVIDES TWO PROGRAMS TO THE STUDENTS OF SUNSET RIDGE ELEMENTARY OF PSD FREE OF CHARGE TO THE SCHOOL'S FAMILIES. TWO SEMESTER- LONG PROGRAMS SERVE STUDENTS IN GRADES 1-3 OR GRADES 4-5. THE CLASS MEETS ONCE PER WEEK AND CULMINATES IN A PERFORMANCE FOR FAMILIES THAT INCLUDES COSTUMES, LIGHTS, AND SETS. AT INGRID B. LACY MIDDLE SCHOOL, WE PROVIDE A 10-WEEK AFTERSCHOOL HIP HOP CLASS FREE OF CHARGE TO THE SCHOOL'S STUDENTS.
