ETHOS BELIEVES THAT EVERY CHILD SHOULD HAVE ACCESS TO MUSIC EDUCATION. ETHOS BRINGS MUSIC EDUCATION BACK TO SEVERAL THOUSAND STUDENTS EVERY YEAR. ORIGINALLY ORGANIZED BY A DEDICATED GROUP OF VOLUNTEER STAFF AND INSTRUCTORS, ETHOS HAS GROWN TO BECOME ONE OF OREGON'S LARGEST ARTS EDUCATION SOURCES AND HAS RECEIVED NUMEROUS REGIONAL AND NATIONAL AWARDS.

MUSIC LESSONS FOR KIDS - IS ETHOS' IN-HOUSE MUSIC EDUCATION PROGRAM THAT PROVIDES AFFORDABLE MUSIC INSTRUCTION TAUGHT ON VARIOUS INSTRUMENTS AND IN A VARIETY OF GENRES, INCLUDING: PIANO, FLUTE, PERCUSSION, CELLO, VIOLIN, HIP-HOP, AND ROCK BAND. THE PROGRAM OFFERS PRIVATE LESSONS, GROUP CLASSES, AND SUMMER CAMPS, ALL ON A SLIDING SCALE, BASED ON STUDENTS' PARTICIPATION IN THE FREE AND REDUCED PRICE LUNCH PROGRAM.
RURAL OUTREACH PROGRAM - THE RURAL OUTREACH PROGRAM REACHES OVER 2,000 STUDENTS EACH YEAR IN UNDER-SERVED COMMUNITIES THROUGHOUT RURAL OREGON. THROUGH A PARTNERSHIP WITH AMERICORPS AND OREGON SERVES, ETHOS IS ABLE TO PROVIDE INCREASED ACCESS TO MUSIC EDUCATION AND ENGAGE COMMUNITIES IN THE MANAGEMENT AND SUPPORT OF SUSTAINABLE MUSIC PROGRAMMING. ETHOS STRIVES TO TAILOR ITS PROGRAMS TO THE NEEDS AND STRENGTHS OF THE COMMUNITIES IT SERVES. ETHOS PLACES FULL-TIME MUSIC EDUCATORS TO LIVE AND TEACH IN SMALL OREGON TOWNS INCLUDING MONUMENT, WOLF CREEK, FALLS CITY, AND MITCHELL.
MUSIC CORPS - IS ETHOS' URBAN OUTREACH PROGRAM. MUSIC CORPS OPERATES AFTER-SCHOOL MUSIC PROGRAMS AT 12 SCHOOLS IN PORTLAND. MUSIC CORPS MAKES MUSIC LESSONS MORE ACCESSIBLE TO A GREATER NUMBER OF STUDENTS BY CONDUCTING CLASSES DIRECTLY ON-SITE, WHERE STUDENTS ATTEND SCHOOL OR PARTICIPATE IN OTHER AFTER-SCHOOL PROGRAMS.
PASS THE MIC - IS A FREE PROGRAM THAT PROVIDES IMMIGRANT YOUTH WITH HIGH-QUALITY AND CULTURALLY RESPONSIVE MUSIC EDUCATION AND MENTORSHIP BY EXPERIENCED PORTLAND MUSICIANS. STUDENTS ARE ENCOURAGED TO EXPRESS THEMSELVES IN FRONT OF THEIR PEERS AND COMMUNITIES, AND THEY LEARN HOW TO COLLABORATE CREATIVELY WITH EACH OTHER. PASS THE MIC HAS TWO COMPONENTS: AN AFTER-SCHOOL PROGRAM WITH PARTNER ORGANIZATIONS AND SCHOOLS INCLUDING THE ASIAN PACIFIC AMERICAN NETWORK OF OREGON AND DAVID DOUGLAS HIGH SCHOOL, AND SUMMER CAMPS HELD AT AREA SCHOOLS.
