THE RC&D IS SPONSORED AND DIRECTED BY LOCAL PEOPLE AS A REGIONAL VEHICLE TO IMPROVE THE ECONOMIC AND SOCIAL CONDITIONS THROUGH THE CONSERVATION, UTILIZATION, AND DEVELOPMENT OF THE NATURAL AND HUMAN RESOURCES OF THE AREA. BEARTOOTH RESOURCE CONSERVATION AND DEVELOPMENT AREA, INC. PROVIDES A MEANS TO FOCUS THE RESOURCES OF PEOPLE WITH VARIOUS BACKGROUNDS, EXPERTISE, AND POINTS OF VIEW. PEOPLE WORKING TOGETHER CAN DEVELOP AND IMPLEMENT A PLAN WHICH WILL ADDRESS PROBLEMS OR ISSUES THAT AFFECT THEIR QUALITY OF LIFE. THE RC&D IS ESSENTIALLY "CITIZENS BUILDING STRONGER COMMUNITIES."

THE RC&D PROMOTES RURAL DEVELOPMENT, ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT AND CONSERVATION IN BIG HORN, CARBON, STILLWATER, SWEETGRASS, AND YELLOWSTONE COUNTIES OF MONTANA AS A CERTIFIED REGIONAL DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION (CRDC) BY ASSISTING CLIENTS WITH PROJECT DEVELOPMENT, PROJECT PLANNING, AND GRANT WRITING AS WELL AS WELL AS WORKING WITH MUNICIPALITIES AND COUNTIES ON IMPROVEMENT OF PUBLIC SERVICES, INFRASTRUCTURE AND FACILITIES. THE RC&D ALSO HAS A FOOD AND AG DEVELOPMENT CENTER (FADC) THAT HELPS PRODUCERS INNOVATE AND GROW BUSINESSES THAT PRODUCE AND COMMERCIALIZE FOOD, AGRICULTURE, AND RENEWABLE ENERGY PRODUCTS AND PROCESSES.


THE RC&D ADMINISTERS A REVOLVING LOAN FUND (RLF) TO PROMOTE ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT. THE ROLE OF THE RLF IS TO PROVIDE GAP FINANCING TO BUSINESSES WHO WOULD FIND IT DIFFICULT TO MEET CONVENTIONAL UNDERWRITING STANDARDS. JOB CREATION IS THE PRIMARY GOAL, ESPECIALLY BY PROVIDING EMPLOYMENT TO THOSE IN LOW AND MODERATE INCOME CATEGORIES. IN 2022, 17 LOANS WERE SERVICED.
