BABY ARTSPLAY! PROGRAM- IN PARTNERSHIP WITH ARTS FOR LEARNING A4L MCI HAS IMPLEMENTED THE BABY ARTSPLAY! PROGRAM. A4L IS THE REGIONAL AFFILIATE OF THE NATIONAL WOLF TRAP INSTITUTE FOR EARLY LEARNING THROUGH THE ARTS. A4L WILL EXPAND PROGRAMMING TO SERVE TEACHERS AND PARENTS OF CHILDREN AGES THREE MONTHS TO THREE YEARS. THIS MEANS THE INFANT TODDLER CLASSROOMS WILL RECEIVE A4L'S SUPPORT AS WELL AS PARENTS WHO HAVE YOUNG CHILDREN WHO ARE LIKELY NOT ENROLLED IN ANY EARLY LEARNING PROGRAM. IMPROVING THE QUALITY OF EARLY CARE AND EDUCATION CENTERS IN THE IMPACT ZONE- IN 2013 MCI LAUNCHED ITS EARLY CARE AND EDUCATION STRATEGY THAT IMPACTS THE EARLY CARE AND EDUCATION CENTERS IN WHICH THE CHILDREN FROM THE BLOCKS ARE BEING PLACED. THE STRATEGY IS AN INVESTMENT IN THE QUALITY OF EDUCATION AND CARE BEING PROVIDED TO THE CHILDREN IN THE CENTERS. KINDERGARTEN INTERVENTIONIST AT CHARLES R. DREW K-8 CENTER - IN PARTNERSHIP WITH CHARITY SERVICES MCI IS PROVIDING AN INTERVENTIONIST TO WORK WITH KINDERGARTEN CHILDREN ON A DAILY BASIS FROM 9:00 A.M. - 12:00 NOON. THE GOAL IS TO ENSURE CHILDREN IN KINDERGARTEN AT CHARLES R. DREW K-8 CENTER ARE READING AT OR ABOVE GRADE LEVEL BY THE END OF THE SCHOOL YEAR. MIAMI DADE COLLEGE READ TO LEARN FREE BOOKS FOR CHILDREN 0-17 YEARS OLD- MIAMI CHILDREN'S INITIATIVE PARTNERED WITH MIAMI DADE COLLEGE TO PROVIDE FREE BOOKS TO CHILDREN YOUTH THROUGHOUT THE BLOCKS AND IN THE IMMEDIATE SURROUNDING BLOCKS AND SCHOOLS. THE BOOKSHELF IS CONSTANTLY FILLED WITH HIGH QUALITY BOOKS THAT PROMOTE A LOVE OF READING. MIAMI MUSIC PROJECT @ CHARLES R. DREW K-8 CENTER- MIAMI CHILDREN'S INITIATIVE HAS PARTNERED WITH MIAMI MUSIC PROJECT TO LAUNCH ITS ESMIA CHILDREN'S ORCHESTRA AT CHARLES R. DREW K-8 CENTER. AFRICAN HERITAGE CULTURAL ARTS CENTER- MIAMI CHILDREN'S INITIATIVE IN PARTNERSHIP WITH THE AFRICAN AMERICAN CULTURAL ARTS CENTER AACAC PARTNERED LAST SUMMER TO PROVIDE CHILDREN ON THE BLOCKS WITH A MEANINGFUL SUMMER EXPERIENCE. UP2US @ CHARLES R. DREW MIDDLE SCHOOL AND MIAMI NORTHWESTERN SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL- UP2US HAS COMMITTED TO A PARTNERSHIP WITH MCI TO PROVIDE RESOURCES TOWARDS TWO HIGHLY TRAINED COACHES. MCI PLACED THE FULL-TIME COACHES AT THE CHARLES R. DREW MIDDLE AND MIAMI NORTHWESTERN SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL TO SUPPORT AFTER-SCHOOL PROGRAMMING FOR STUDENTS. UP2US COACHES ARE PART OF THE NATIONAL AMERICORPS PROGRAM AND RECEIVE VALUABLE LEADERSHIP TRAINING ALONG WITH AN EDUCATION AWARD AND ADDITIONAL BENEFITS. PARKS AND RECREATION PROGRAMS- MIAMI CHILDREN'S INITIATIVE IN PARTNERSHIP WITH OLINDA PARKS HADLEY PARK AND THE NFL YET CENTER PARTNERED LAST SUMMER TO PROVIDE CHILDREN ON THE BLOCKS WITH A MEANINGFUL SUMMER EXPERIENCE. PARENT LEADERSHIP TRAINING INSTITUTE PLTI - IN PARTNERSHIP WITH CATALYST MIAMI MCI HAS IMPLEMENTED PLTI IN LIBERTY CITY. THE PROGRAM ENGAGES PARENTS AS PARTNERS IN THEIR CHILDREN'S EDUCATION AND WELL-BEING. FLTI IS A CIVIC LITERACY PLATFORM DESIGNED TO ENGAGE ENTIRE FAMILIES ACROSS AGE GROUPS AND GENERATIONS.
