THE FIRST SPECIFIC PURPOSE OF THE ORGANIZATION IS TO PROVIDE THE SECURE AND APPROPRIATE SHARING OF ELECTRONIC HEALTH AND CLINICAL DATA AMONG DIVERSE ORGANIZATIONS FACILITATING ACCESS AND RETRIEVAL OF DATA FOR HEALTH CARE PURPOSES, AND TO USE THAT INDIVIDUAL, AGGREGATED AND COMPARATIVE CLINICAL DATA TO IMPROVE HEALTH OUTCOMES FOR CLINICIANS AND CITIZENS OF HUMBOLDT COUNTY AND NORTHERN CALIFORNIA. THE SECOND SPECIFIC PURPOSE IS TO CONDUCT CARE IMPROVEMENT PROJECTS (INITIATIVES TO IMPROVE OUTCOMES, PATIENT EXPERIENCE AND PATIENT SAFETY), FOR CLINICIANS AND THE CITIZENS OF HUMBOLDT COUNTY AND NORTHERN CALIFORNIA.

NORTH COAST HEALTH IMPROVEMENT AND INFORMATION NETWORK (NCHIIN) CONTINUES TO CONTRACT WITH LOCAL MEDICAL PROVIDERS TO PROVIDE ELECTRONIC DATA INTERCHANGE SERVICES.DURING THIS PERIOD, HEALTH CARE DATA TRANSACTIONS ACROSS THE HEALTH INFORMATION EXCHANGE (FROM DATA PROVIDER TO NCHIIN INTO THE ELECTRONIC HEALTH RECORDS OF THE RECIPIENT) AVERAGED OVER 17,983 A MONTH.NCHIIN CONTINUES TO GROW THE NORTH COAST CARE CONNECT, HUMBOLDT COUNTY'S COMMUNITY INFORMATION EXCHANGE (CIE).DURING THIS PERIOD, 14 NEW PROGRAMS WERE ADDED TO THE CIE, WITH A CIE FEE SCHEDULE BEING ESTABLISHED, ALONG WITH OBTAINING GRANT FUNDS TO SUPPORT OPERATIONS AS THE NETWORK BUILDS TO CAPACITY.NCHIIN HAS ALSO INITIATED THE PROCESS OF JOINING THE CALIFORNIA ASSOCIATION OF HEALTH INFORMATION EXCHANGES (CAHIE) IN SUPPORT OF PARTICIPATING IN THE CALIFORNIA TRUSTEN EXCHANGE NETWORK (CTEN).
